Can you learn to ride a bike by reading a book? You have to actually get on the bike to figure it out. And it helps to have a friend there to show you how to do it. It’s the same thing with parenting. We can tell kids to be kind, but it makes a greater impression on them if they observe and experience our kindness themselves. And we can encourage them when we see them following our example.
