Mother Nature Network: All You Need To Know About The Year of the Dog
Because the Chinese calendar is based on the moon’s rotation, the new year falls somewhere between Jan. 21 and Feb. 20 each year. People celebrate with lots of food and festivities, as well as dragon and lion dances for good luck. There are red paper lanterns, a bold color to signify a bright future, and firecrackers to chase away evil spirits.

You see things and you say, “Why?” But I dream things that never were and I say, “Why not?”
How big are your dreams? Do you stay within the comfort of knowing that what you dream is a sure possibility or do you dream big and let yourself dream of things that you could never imagine yourself doing. Dont keep yourself in a safe zone when you are dreaming. Go big and let yourself see things that are beyond your wildest dreams. You are worth more than you can imagine so dreaming big will never even touch your true potential.
Today is the day to let yourself think about things that you don’t ever think you will be able to accomplish. Think of things that you would only ascribe to someone else. Think of things that are so huge they make you feel uncomfortable. Think of things that appear so far from reach that you think it is totally impossible to achieve. Sit in the daydream for a moment. Look around your mind’s eye and bask in the possibility of what you see. When you come back to reality ask yourself why not?
Have a Great Day and Believe in Yourself!

The Surprising Community That’s Holding The Largest Beach Cleanup Ever
For the past 120 Sundays, you wouldn’t have found Afroz Shah sleeping in, gathering with friends, or indulging in the last hours of the weekend. Instead, the lawyer has been spending his days picking up trash along Versova Beach outside Mumbai in what he calls “a date with the ocean.

“Growth takes place in a person by working at a deep inner level in a sustained atmosphere of silence.”
How can we hear our wise voice of intuition if we are always thinking, talking and distracted by outer events?
If we take time daily to experience physical stillness and to direct our attention inside, we can begin to find the peace, love, will and wisdom that exist as our essence.
“Only when one is connected to one’s own core is one connected to others… And, for me, the core, the inner spring, can best be refound through solitude.”
“In the sweet territory of silence we touch the mystery. It’s the place of reflection and contemplation, and it’s the place where we can connect with the deep knowing, to the deep wisdom way.”

When “bad” things happen to “good” people, it’s often because they want to become even better teachers, guides, and helpers to those precious souls who will one day need them to be their rock.
Plus, today’s bad is always tomorrow’s boon, no matter who you are, no matter what has happened, and no matter how weak the coffee was.

“Our moral progress may be measured by the degree in which we sympathize with individual suffering and individual joy.”
-George Eliot (1819-1880)
Progress is learning more about who we are. Progress is understanding and relating and empathizing with other people because we realize that we are all in this together. There is no separation between us. When we can truly experience that Oneness, we will have made real progress
