Long the face of the conservation movement, giant pandas were upgraded from “endangered” to “vulnerable” on the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Red List of Endangered Species In September 2016. If we take the example of a car – a car is not just transportation. If it were, we’d all be driving very fuel-efficient, non-descript vehicles. A car has become a symbol – of our wealth, our style, our priorities. A Mercedes costs more money not just because it is more expensive to produce, but because people are willing to pay more for the prestige associated with the name. So, the car is providing necessary transportation, but also the “image” that the driver wants to project. Is the image worth the price? It’s just a matter of personal preference. We have choices, in cars and in everything.
