Our quote for today is about work however it refers to our lives as well. Having the life we want requires work as does making peace with ourselves. When things don’t look so great or are stressful remember that there are two sides to each coin. So take a chance, flip that coin and do the work necessary to turn the odds in your favor. Don’t be afraid of a little work on your own behalf.
Good Morning Beautiful Souls, grab a cup of your favorite morning brew and start things off with “Today’s Inspirations”. I hope you find something here that will make you feel good or help you on your path today.
Blessings, Cat

Spirit Library: Preparing for a Quantum Leap (a message from Kate Spreckley)

MBG: The Niyamas Of Yoga: A Yogi’s Guide To Ethical Living
First found in “The Yoga Sutras of Patanjali,” the niyamas are one of the eight limbs of yoga—if you think of yoga as a tree, the niyamas are one of the eight “branches” towards enlightenment and total awareness. There are five niyamas, and they all act as a sort of moral code, as they teach us how we should treat ourselves as yogis to become more self-actualized beings
1. If the visitor is unknown to the dreamer, then this is a happy portent of new friends and a busy social life. If the visitor is known, good news through a friend should be on the horizon.
2. To dream of visiting someone under ominous circumstances is a warning to beware of those who might spread rumors and gossip about you. But to be a visitor in a happy and well-kept home augurs moving on to bigger and better things.
3. To have someone come to visit you means that someone will be bringing news. Whether or not it’s good news or bad news depends on other symbols in the dream.

These are challenging and unusual times we are living in. The fireworks and celebrations of New Year, only just over three months ago, are a memory of a time when the future seemed malleable.
“Work should be in order to live. We don’t live in order to work. That shift in awareness is necessary.”
— Matthew Fox
What are your beliefs around work? Do you believe it’s necessary to work hard to earn a living? No pain, no gain? Do you believe women’s work is never done? That play is a waste of time?
While there are merits to the work ethic, over-work takes a serious toll on the quality of our lives. Our ability to contribute to life requires us to have a sense of balance, joy, playfulness, time to stop and smell the flowers.

A Note from the Universe
Through you, through you, through you,
The magic works through you. Not beside you. Not around you. Not for you. Not despite you. But through you.
You have to go there. You have to choose your stage. You have to do your dance. Putting yourself in place, to any degree that you can, even if it scares you, even when it’s “hard,” even if it’s just your big toe. Stretch yourself, scoff at the odds, get the ball rolling so that the magic can then come alive and sweep you off your feet with its infinite grace and glory.
You wouldn’t just carry around the seeds for the garden of your dreams in your pocket, all the while asking where your flowers were? Nope, you’d have to brave the elements, you’d have to choose the location, and then you’d have to go there.
Your life is your wand (or hoe)

Meaning
“There is no meaning in life except the meaning man gives his life by the unfolding of his powers, by living productively…”
-Erich Fromm (1900-1980)
Each day we learn and grow, we are unfolding our powers! Doesn’t that sound great? We’re getting better and stronger and more powerful the more that we discover about ourselves. By living productively, by using our time on this planet well, we find meaning in our lives. We are not meant to be a mere observer – we are meant to participate. We are given powers to use, not to let stagnate.

Daily Tarot: The Fool
You’re learning, but you’re just not quite there yet. The Fool signifies inexperience and, of course, a certain amount of foolishness when it comes to love. Even if you’ve been around the block a time or two, there is still plenty for you to learn. Don’t be fearful of what love has in store for you, but keep your eyes open for roadblocks along the way and try not to stumble over them.

Daily Good: The Mindfulness Skill That is Crucial for Stress
Mindfulness is known to have many advantages, including reducing stress, increasing awareness, improving physical health, and more. However, when it comes to lowering stress levels, without also practicing acceptance, we might not see the results we hope for. “Mindfulness practices that specifically emphasize acceptance teach us a nonjudgmental attitude toward our experiences — meaning, learning not to label our thoughts, feelings, or experiences as good or bad, and trying not to change or resist them in any way.” By learning to accept our difficult experiences, we can allow them to run their course and naturally dissipate, this is not the same thing as being passive. Read more to learn how turning toward our negative emotions with friendliness can help us live life with a greater sense of agency and fulfillment. { read more }

Elephant Journal: How to Forgive Yourself for the Pain you have caused to your Own Soul.
Nobody purposely causes themselves pain.
This is the first thing we need to acknowledge if we want to start on a journey of taking responsibility for our own suffering and healing our past hurts, in order to create fresh, new experiences for ourselves.
Tonight, or any clear November evening, try using the Great Square of Pegasus to star-hop your way to a view out our galaxy’s south window. In other words, you’ll be looking away from the flat plane of our Milky Way – where most of our galaxy’s stars reside – and toward intergalactic space. You can do this no matter what part of Earth you’re standing on.
When it comes to Hoodoo herbs Jezebel Root is one of the most notorious. Also called Louisiana iris root, it can be used for success in gambling, business, and love magick.
“We honor life when we work. The type of work is not important: the fact of work is. All work feeds the soul if it is honest and done to the best of our abilities and if it brings joy to others.”
— Matthew Fox
What value do we unconsciously (or consciously) place on different kinds of work? How do we rank the status of different jobs? How much more do we value the big- paying jobs over others?
Just as we need to honour ourselves for doing what needs to be done, we can equally honour all others who look after life through their efforts, no matter what they may be. We can release judgment that assigns more importance to some occupations than others.
“Now in order that people may be happy in their work, these three things are needed: They must be fit for it: they must not do too much of it: and they must have a sense of success in it — not a doubtful sense, such as needs some testimony of others for its confirmation, but a sure sense, or rather knowledge, that so much work has been done well, and fruitfully done, whatever the world may say or think about it.”

Travel
“Why do you wonder that globe-trotting does not help you, seeing that you always take yourself with you? The reason which set you wandering is ever at your heels.”
-Socrates (470? – 399 B.C.)
Even Socrates was saying, way back when, that we can’t run away from our problems, we can’t run away from ourselves! We may end up in totally different surroundings, but we don’t change just because the scenery has changed. Travel doesn’t change us, we change ourselves because we choose to do so, by facing our issues and dealing with them. Travel can help us to learn and grow, and we can choose to take that “new and improved” version of ourselves with us.

Daily Tarot: The Hermit
It might be a busy day, but try to make some time for yourself. Any time you spend meditating or settling your mind will be time well spent. It doesn’t have to be spent sitting around and being idle all day. Staring pensively into that cup of tea for a few moments can be equally beneficial. Calm your mind, and your heart, and make it an at-peace day.

Spiritual Unite: How To Protect Your Energy As An Empath
How to protect your energy as an empath: Could you sense what other people are feeling without them saying a word? Could you sense the emotional changes in the environment? Then, there’s a possibility that you are an empath. Empath are the people who are highly sensitive to the changes of energy around them. Whether the change occurs in people,
Daily Thought: Expectations set the bar for your actions. If you believe and expect that nothing will happen then your efforts will follow. Set your expectations to achieve what you believe to be true about yourself. Always strive to the highest mark and accept with grace and gratitude the accomplishments reached along the way. Make sure your personal expectations are high enough to keep you striving and realistic enough to make your proud
Daily Practice: What are your self-expectations? Are they high enough that you can divide into steps to reach? Take some time today to evaluate what your beliefs about yourself are and what you believe you are capable of achieving. Set a goal that you never thought yourself capable of and break it into little self- expectations to reach it.

EarthSky News: Tonight and tomorrow Moon in Virgo
Virgo the Maiden is a large, faint, rambling constellation with a single bright star, Spica. You’ll see this star near the moon the next few evenings. By the way, Saturday night’s moon is the second Blue Moon of 2018
Persephone is often seen only as the maiden taken to the Under World against her will, but there is so much more to her than that. In fact, she became the fierce Queen of Hell ruling over her domain very much the equal to Hades while saving humanity by adapting the climate to give us the growing season. To put Persephone’s story into a contemporary context, we can classify her as a Goddess of Adaptation because of how she transformed herself, managed her relationships and turned the wheel of the year. Inner Journey: Conscious Communication
“If we want to be compassionate we must be conscious of the words we use. We must both speak and listen from the heart.”
— Marshall B. Rosenberg
Conscious communication requires us to be truly present to what is occurring. When we are unconscious, we both speak to and react to others out of habit. And in the face of what we perceive as someone’s judgment and criticism, we automatically (and unconsciously) defend, withdraw or attack.
To communicate consciously requires attention to two areas:
1.I need to speak from awareness of what I am perceiving, feeling and needing, and
2.Through watching and listening, I need to be aware of those same needs in others.
“When we focus on clarifying what is being observed, felt, and needed rather than on diagnosing and judging, we discover the depth of our own compassion.”
— Marshall B. Rosenberg

A Note from the Universe
Better to try and fail than forever wonder what might have been….
Not that there’s really any failing, because in the journey you will love and be loved, get nearer your goal, and probably realize that you should have dreamed bigger to begin with, as you pluck that baby from the tree of life on a subsequent go around.
When my sister-in-law had a baby, I made her this bread to have on hand during her marathon nursing sessions and froze it in slices that were easy to reheat. This bread is so good for women’s hormonal health, from the flaxseed meal (which has been shown in studies to help with PCOS and hormone balance) to the goji berries (which have been shown to regulate hormone levels). There’s no kneading or complex fermentation process here, but it comes out like a real loaf of bread. It also has a subtle sweetness and tons of plant-based protein and healthy fat to keep your blood sugar stable throughout the day.

Work
“All growth depends upon activity. There is no development physically or intellectually without effort, and effort means work. Work is not a curse; it is the prerogative of intelligence… the measure of civilization.” ~-Calvin Coolidge
It’s great to plan, to pay attention, to have intention, to dream, wish, and visualize. Yet there comes a time when we must take action! Work is how things get done. Because we live on this human plane, work is how we learn and grow. Whether it is by studying or through our experiences, our activities take us to new places mentally, emotionally, and spiritually.
