TREE INFOMATION The Rowan tree is also known as the Mountain Ash and is a member of the rose family. They can be found growing among ancient settlements and ruins in Europe where they grow “like weeds”, although many of these trees were planted there as well. Rowan trees can grow almost anywhere and do well in poor soil, which would explain their growth in many areas and even grows well at high altitudes.This tree grows up to 40 ft in height and produces flowers in May, after which come the red berries. The berries are said to be sacred food of the gods which were jealously guarded and kept away from man. The tree itself has a round, open-top crown and the leaves which turn red in the fall are 4-8 inches in length and oblong with serrated edges along the point. The berries grow in clusters and each berry has a small design that resembles a pentagram on it. It was this pentagram “design” that linked this tree to witchcraft during the 15th and 16th centuries, it’s reputation became so negative that herbalist’s stopped using it for fear of being labeled as a witch. The bark from the Rowan tree is used for tanning and making dye and the berries are edible and make great jams and jellies. The berries are also still used in herbal medicine as a tea for treating diarrhea and they are very high in vitamin C which makes them useful for treating colds.
ROWAN IN MYTH & MAGICK
Rowan is also known as a fairy tree and as such, it is not advisable to cut branches from the tree itself. If you need to cut branches from one you should always leave the Fae a gift of yourself, like hair or fingernail clippings. By using this tree it is said that you will be protected by the Fae themselves. However, fallen branches are the best if you are going to use the wood. Rowan is thought to be one of the sacred druid trees and can be found growing near many of the ancient stone circles and it played a main role in some of their ceremonies.

In popular folklore Rowan trees could be planted next to your home as protection against lightning and to promote good luck while sprigs of Rowan could also be hung over doors in the home to ward off the evil eye or if you wore one, it kept the fairies from kidnapping you. They were even planted in churchyards to watch over the dead and protect the living from ghosts. One very popular European custom that was still being used approximately 100 years ago was the construction of rowan wood crosses. These “ornaments” of protection were made from twigs and tied with red thread. Every home had one over the front door as did seedbeds, barns, and pigsties. They were also given to babies before they could be baptized. At Beltane, the berries were sewn into a circle and hung over windows to prevent lightning strikes or strung into necklaces to ward off the evil eye. The berries were also added to healing charms to help the patient to recover faster.
Rune staves were at one time made from Rowan wood simply because of its protective powers as are wands and dowsing rods.
Use Rowan in spells for blessings, grounding & centering, protection, warding against psychic attack, protection against enchantment.

119: Our lives are made up of endings and beginnings. At the start of the new year (and a new decade!) we are offered the chance at both. End what doesn’t work or feel right and replace these things by beginning something new. There is an old saying that goes “When one door closes another one opens.” and the Universe is asking us to take that phrase and our “January Theme” to heart today. By holding optimistic light for ourselves and meeting the day with a sense of adventure we can navigate these revolving cycles with ease. I hear many people talk about their longing for a balanced life. What I think they are really expressing is a desire for a life with less pressure. – Mary Anne Radmacher
118: The Universe is asking us to perform a balance check today and reminding us that doing this regularly is in our best interest and an important part of our self-care routine. Remember that there is a fine line between giving and receiving and tipping the scales in either direction can an imbalance. By giving away too much of ourselves stress levels skyrocket and we become drained and tired. If we receive or take too much from others, not only do we drain them but our energy changes from positive and loving to needy and greedy. If you find that you are tipping the scales in either direction take the time to ground and center then make the adjustments to free up and even out your energy flow. This will help to open the doors to new things that you might miss out on otherwise. Remember, staying balanced means that you have more energy to create your dreams and goals.
The Archangel Raphael teaches us that it is through our spiritual journey that we can heal our selves and our lives and regain our self-confidence and faith. He helps to clear the way so that we can achieve balance by removing the blocks associated with giving and receiving by promoting flexibility in thinking and attitude.

This is important to achieving overall balance as we sometimes do things just because we can and have been allowed to get away with it. The washy earth tones of Picasso Marble help to calm feelings of stress and anxiety as it settles the mind and keeps us grounded.
Rose Quartz brings inner peace and harmony. The energy of this stone is very soothing and can help calm frazzled nerves. It helps to promote the softer, move loving view that we need to embrace gratitude, it soothes and clears the emotions and fills us with loving compassion. It works with the heart chakra to gently wash away negative feelings that we harbor against ourselves and lifts the emotions to promote joy and peace. 117: We are the masters of our own destiny and the creators of our own reality. While this may sound cliche… it’s also the truth. All the work we’ve done and the changes we have made and are making are starting to pay off and the Universe is encouraging us to stick to our path. Hold your course and find the things that are important to you. Make a conscious decision to focus on them. Simplify if needed and readjust your course to stay on track. Remember that you cannot control everything so listen to your inner guidance and let go of your worries and fears as you continue to push onward. Our angels understand that we sometimes get discouraged when results don’t happen right away. So they are reminding us to have faith in ourselves and in the loving energy of the Divine. The wheels are turning behind the scenes and things are falling into place.
The Archangel Raziel gently guides us through the manifestation process so that we are more adept at creating what we need and what we want. Remember that NEED and WANT are two separate things and by concentrating on need first all else will fall into place.

116: Our thoughts and actions shape and create our reality and the Universe is reminding us that we have the power within us to manifest anything and everything that we need. Faith- Perspective- Focus are today’s keywords. Have faith in what you want to create (dreams and goals). Use your powers of perception and look for that “one good thing” and use it to create that first step. Stay focused on what you want and on your desired outcome and give them nudges and tweaks to keep things moving in the right direction and by keeping your expectations high you generate a mindset that embodies gratitude as it creates a positive flow of blessings. The biggest key to the creation process lies in finding and maintaining a balance between our material and spiritual sides. Learning to appreciate and be grateful for what we have allows us to clearly see new blessings when they arrive. You are worthy of receiving the blessings the universe has to offer, add your magick to that and watch paths and doors open up!
The Archangel Raguel helps us to find our power and brings clarity when we feel conflicted about what to do next by providing a boost of energy and by bringing order to your thoughts. He also aids in the letting go process which is essential to moving forward. Raguel reminds us that sometimes people can get “freaky” when they see you moving off in a new direction and helps to smooth the way by resolving conflicts and disharmony with those around us as we work with our creative magic.
The Ascended Master Buddha helps us to find our “Attitude of Gratitude”.By acknowledging what we have to be grateful for we are filled with joy and inner peace which encourages positive flow. He also reminds us of the important balance between giving and receiving. When we are balanced we find the patience and inner peace we need to go with the flow and can help us embrace the “Tiny Miracles” in our lives as well.
The Hindu Goddess Kali is a dark mother and goddess of death. Each time we let go of something that no longer serves us we are in truth embracing a “little death” and fear often accompanies the letting go process. Iolite, also known as “Poor Man’s Amethyst” it is a stone of vision that assists our intuition and aids us in setting things in motion by staying true to yourself and your path while freeing you from the expectations of others. It helps us to live in the moment making it easier to snag the blessings given to us. It is also a soothing stone that calms emotions during times of change.
Okenite can be used to help clear away obstacles and teaches us that the universe is filled with unlimited possibilities when allowing ourselves to face and adapt to change. It helps us to find our inner strength so that we can finish what we start and helps replace bad habits with good ones.
Turquoise. This stone helps us with creative problem solving and promotes both balance and intuition. It is aligned with the Throat Chakra and teaches us to speak up for ourselves and speak our truth. Which can be a valuable asset when working with gratitude and our ability to create for ourselves.

Wouldn’t it be great if life came with step by step instructions? Everything all neatly laid out and fitting together in order. It’s a nice fantasy but the truth is that it doesn’t work that way. We take what life gives us and make the most with what we have until the next correct step comes along. Then we apply it and move on to the next. When creating our life puzzle remember to be patient. By doing so we will get what we truly want or in some cases something even better!
