October Birthstone : Opal

Birthstone Color: Multi-colored

October’s birthstone treats the eye to an explosion of shimmering colors, not unlike those of a magnificent rainbow following a summer rain. The Opal derives its name from the Latin word “opalus,” meaning precious jewel. Prized for its unique ability to refract and reflect specific wavelengths of light, the Opal was called “Cupid Paederos” by the Romans, meaning a child beautiful as love. One legendary explanation for this gemstone’s origin is that it fell from heaven in a flash of fiery lightning.

Flowers For October

Marigold / Calendula
Sacred affection is shown with the marigold.

A myth describing which seems to be creation of the marigold is mentioned in the story of Clytie and Apollo.

The marigolds, genus Calendula L., are a genus of about 20 species of annual or perennial herbaceous plants in the daisy family Asteraceae, native to Mexico and Central America, the Mediterranean region and Macaronesia.

The leaves of this plant are 5-18 cm long, simple, and usually roughly hairy. The flower heads range from pale yellow to deep orange, and are 3-7 cm across, with both ray florets and disc florets. The petals of the Pot Marigold are spicy and are edible, added to dishes as a garnish.

Cosmos
Cosmos flowers symbolize peace, modesty, creation, and wholeness.

Cosmos is a genus of about twenty species of annual and perennial plants of the Asteraceae family, including the garden flowers Cosmos bipinnatus (also known as “Mexican Aster”),Cosmos atrosanguineus (“Chocolate Cosmos”) and Cosmos sulphureus (“Yellow Cosmos”).

They are native to scrub and meadow areas of the southern United States and Central America. Cosmos flowers have radiate flower heads of variously colored flowers and opposite pinnate leaves widely cultivated as garden annuals. These flowers are very fragrant, chocolate cosmos even smell like chocolate.

Spirits of the Air whisper in our hair and chill our bodies, and from the dark portions watch and wait the Faery Folk that they may join the circle and leave their track upon the ground. It is the time of the waning year. Winter is upon us. The corn is golden in the winnow heaps. Rains will soon wash sleep into the life-bringing Earth. We are not without fear, we are not without sorrow…Before us are all the signs of Death: the ear of corn is no more green and life is not in it. The Earth is cold and no more will grasses spring jubilant. The Sun but glances upon his sister, the earth….. It is so….Even now….But here also are the signs of life, the eternal promise given to our people. In the death of the corn there is the seed–which is both food for the season of Death and the Beacon which will signal green-growing time and life returning. In the cold of the Earth there is but sleep wherein She will awaken refreshed and renewed, her journey into the Dark Lands ended. And where the Sun journeys he gains new vigor and potency; that in the spring, his blessings shall come ever young!”

Inner Journey:

DAILY FORGIVENESS

“As long as you don’t forgive, who and whatever it is will occupy rent-free space in your mind.”
— Isabelle Holland

We cannot avoid daily resentment and thoughts of guilt. They are a part of human nature. What we can do is release their grip on us. We can forgive others and ourselves daily.

Forgiveness requires nothing in return. There are no conditions. It gets rid of old baggage and clears up unfinished business. It leads us to a life of authenticity, lightness and directness. Forgiveness is the highest form of letting go of resentment and ego.

True forgiveness is more than an apology, understanding and acceptance. There is an element of recreating and re-imagining. There is a need to envision ourselves as more loving, interdependent, courageous and compassionate. Forgiveness requires honouring the sacred journey of learning about life – our life and others’.

“Whatever we have done, we can always make amends for it without ever looking back in guilt or sorrow.”

Let Information Come To You: Cat’s Angel Message for October 1, 2021

Let Information Come To You: Cat’s Angel Message for October 1, 2021

October’s Theme: Information, Divine guidance, Aha! moments and messages. Thoughts, ideas, and insights. These messages are important for us personally, emotionally and spiritually so work on staying open  to the information that you receive.

Today’s Message: Let Information Come To You

101: As we start the new month take some time to clear and center yourself as we will be focusing on the receiving of divine inspiration and information. Divine guidance comes from many sources ( Goddess/Sacred Feminine, God, Angels or Ascended Masters.), and comes in many forms that you see, hear, feel or even touch. Our creative energy will also play a big part in what we do this month. The Universe is not only powerful but creative as well so be ready for new and inspiring thoughts and ideas to help you along your path. Remember, don’t try and force things to happen because the best creative things happen naturally. Hold peaceful thoughts for yourself and others and allow creative solutions and ideas to help you today!

As you clear and center connect to your image of the Divine Source. Extend gratitude for what you have and the good things coming your way. Ask for what you need today. (peace, healing, energy, protection, etc.) Commit yourself to being open to receiving and allow yourself to see the world with fresh eyes.

Today’s Spirit Helpers include:

Archangel Uriel teaches us how to access our creative database. He reminds us that sometimes the best way to solve a problem is to use a non-conventional approach. He gives us essential information that we need when we need it. This assists us during the manifestation process by enhancing our problem solving skills so that we can make the decisions that are best for our current situations.

The Ascended Master Yogananda teaches us how to open the channels of divine communication and promotes feelings of divine love and teaches us about peace and how to share it. He can offer assistance in all things including your spiritual path.

The Egyptian goddess Isis reminds us that growth requires patience and that change and growth are an ongoing part of life. “Be grateful for the baby steps that move you along your path, for they are milestones on your inner journey. Celebrate these steps and appreciate every kindness shown as they are all part of a grand celebration!

Today’s Sacred Stones include:

Azurite-Malachite. This combination of deep blue and green works with the Third Eye and Heart Chakras, which are essential to receiving divine guidance. It also promotes our individuality and the ability to be flexible in our thinking.

Beryl teaches us how to fulfill our true potential. It helps us to see both sides of a situation, opportunity or problem and promotes strategic planning so that we can use it to our best advantage.

Yellow Jasper helps to provide clarity on both mental and emotional levels. It starts us off in a positive direction while helping us to find realistic and workable solutions that help us to attain our goals

Blessings for a magickal day! Cat

BLACKBERRY SYRUP
Put ripe berries into a large pot and mash very gently with a potato masher. Add water to barely cover the berries, and cook over low heat until the steam rises and they start to give up their juice. Remove from heat and strain to remove seeds.

Measure ½ cup of white sugar or mild-flavored honey (such as clover) for each cup of Blackberry juice, mix together the sweetening and juice, and reheat slowly only until sweetening is dissolved. Try not to let the juice or syrup boil, since this tends to destroy the appealing fresh-berry flavor. Keep syrup refrigerated in jars. (It may also be frozen, and keeps very well both ways.)

Inner Journey: Look for the gifts

“In school you get the lesson and then take the test… In life you take the test and then get the lesson.”
— Unknown Source

How is a problem in your life really an opportunity?

Problems invite us to go inside to recognize a bigger picture of ourselves and of life. This bigger picture brings meaning to what is unfolding.

When you feel trapped in a problem, see if you can shift your perspective. Ask yourself, “What am I being invited to learn from this situation?” The answer will always revolve around a quality or value, like gratitude, freedom, compassion, love, will, humouror acceptance. The answer will also always promote union rather than separation.

As soon as we find the meaning in our challenge, our resistance to it melts away. Often, awareness of the lesson is all that is needed to resolve the problem. If not, the awareness brings us courage and ways to work through it.

“The period of greatest gain in knowledge and experience is the most difficult period in one’s life.”

BELIEVE IN MAGIC!

“…for magic to happen in your life, you must believe in magic.”
— Grandmother, quoted by Lynn Andrews

“Most of the time, we fall in love but can’t remain there. The world then calls the state we were in a delusion or infatuation … But we merely lacked, or someone else lacked, the emotional skills to hold on to the magicwhen the morning came. …In truth, we can go to the moon and retain its magic for a lifetime.”
— Marianne Williamson

“We think, sometimes, there’s not a dragon left. Not one brave knight, not a single princess gliding through secret forests … What a pleasure to be wrong. Princesses, knights, enchantments and dragons, mystery and adventure… not only are they here-and-now, they’re all that ever lived on earth! Masters of reality still meet us in dreams to tell us that we’ve never lost the shield we need against dragons, that blue-fire voltage arcs through us now to change our world as we wish.Intuition whispers true: We’re not dust, we’re magic!”

Nature

“Nothing in nature is isolated. Nothing is without reference to something else. Nothing achieves meaning apart from that which neighbors it.”

-Goethe (1749-1832)

Everything we have, everything we see, everything we are, has its roots in nature. We are all made up of the same basic materials! Look at your desk, the paper, wood and wicker that come from the trees, which grow from the earth. We feel disassociated from nature when we work in an office, and yet we can never get away from it. The water that runs through the rivers, and through our taps, and through our bodies, is all a part of nature. We are connected to the planet, and to each other, in ways seen and unseen
