EarthSky News: Meet the Chamaeleon, a southern constellation

The constellation of the Chamaeleon lies deep in the Southern Hemisphere sky. You have to be south of the equator to spot it. As a south circumpolar constellation, it circles closely around the south celestial pole and, therefore, does not set. Thus, if you’re in the Southern Hemisphere, you can see it on any evening of the year.

Work
“The man [or woman!] who does not work for the love of work but only for money is not likely to make money nor to find much fun in life.”

-Charles M. Schwab

That’s quite some advice from one of the top businessmen in American history! Yet how many of us really take this to heart? I’ve heard so many times from people who say that they are working just for the money and that what they REALLY want to do is something else entirely. This isn’t productive. So our choice is to either find a way to love the work that we are at least temporarily required to do, OR find a way to make money doing what it is that we love to do. Both of these are valid options. Work can be a ministry. No matter where you are or what you’re doing, there are people you can reach, people you can help. And we also know that when you truly love what you are doing, nothing can stop you from doing it!

When we are open, we are willing to move to places we’ve never been before. We are willing to continually review our belief systems so we can test out new ideas.

A Note from the Universe

When you think a new thought, entertain a new dream, or mentally choose a new goal, your thoughts “leave” you and go out — in every direction — to the farthest corners of the planet. They carry a life force all their own, like ripples created when a pebble is tossed into a pond.

You can’t change this,  but you can totally use the heck out of it.

Inner Journey:

LOOK INSIDE FOR DIRECTION

“If you see your path laid out in front of you — Step one, Step two, Step three — you only know one thing… it is not your path. Your path is created in the moment of action. If you can see it laid out in front of you, you can be sure it is someone else’s path. That is why you see it so clearly.”
— Joseph Campbell

What? No one to follow? Now that’s a scary thought!

And yet, that’s what life asks each of us to do – to chart our own path. We are each unique. We’re told our uniqueness is our gift to the world. And so why would we even want to follow in someone else’s footsteps?

Can we trust ourselves to carve our own trail?

“To know how to choose a path with heart is to learn how to follow intuitive feeling.”

A Note from the Universe

If you just start dancing, I can assure you, by the powers vested in me (more than you could ever imagine), the music will be added. As will the partners, the giant disco ball, and whatever else you like.

But I must warn you, “start” is not to be confused with “start and then stop to see if anything happens.” Nope, that’s “I’m scared, tired, and not sure what I really want.”

I mean “start” as in “never stop, never look back, because even if I make a ‘mistake,’ at least I still get to dance.”

Do your thing and I’ll do mine.

Reason
“Let Reason, not impulse, be your guide.”

-Kahlil Gibran (1883-1931)
I like this because Gibran used a capital “R” for reason – and I think that’s significant. We have a head, and we have a heart. We are at our best when we can use the two of them together. Reason with a little “r” might just be thinking, using our heads. But Reason with a big “R” connects the heart. Our heart can be impulsive, and our head can be impulsive – but Reason allows us that time for consideration, that time for thoughtfulness. It brings us balance, and peace of mind.
