Inner Journey: BRING AWARENESS TO YOUR GENEROSITY

“Generosity lies less in giving much than in giving at the right moment.”
— Jean De La Bruyère

While it’s important to give, it’s also essential that we not give more than we can afford. Only you can determine the appropriate amount of time or money you can give away, but it should not cause you hardship. We need to respect our own needs as well as the needs of others.

When do you give more than you can afford?

“Generosity is another quality which, like patience, letting go, non-judging, and trust, provides a solid foundation for mindfulness practice. You might experiment with using the cultivation of generosity as a vehicle for deep self-observation and inquiry as well as an exercise in giving.”

Light

“Science and art may invent splendid modes of illuminating the apartments of the opulent; but these are all poor and worthless compared with the light which the sun pours freely, impartially, over hill and valley, which kindles daily the eastern and western sky; and so the common lights of reason and conscience and love are of more worth and dignity than the rare endowments which give celebrity to a few.”

-William Ellery Channing (1780-1842)
The light of day, the morning sun steaming through our window gives us a sense of newness, and optimism. We share the sun, it warms each of us without playing favorites. Songs are written about the sun, and the happiness it brings.

Inner Journey: APPRECIATION

“You can never get to peace and inner security without first acknowledging all of the good things in your life. If you’re forever wanting and longing for more without first appreciating things the way they are, you’ll stay in discord.”
— Doc Childre and Howard Martin

Develop an attitude of gratitude. We discover a sense of wholeness as we appreciate both the small and big things in our lives. And it really helps to remember to appreciate ourselves. Appreciation is more than just acceptance — it’s respect and admiration. Let go of criticism and self-abuse.

“Generally, appreciation means some blend of thankfulness, admiration, approval, and gratitude. In the financial world, something that ‘appreciates’ grows in value. With the power tool of appreciation, you get the benefit of both perspectives: as you learn to be consistently thankful and approving, your life will grow in value.”

Sometimes our spiritual progress is like a dimmer and brighter control – one of those knobs where we can make the light gradually grow brighter. And sometimes it seems like we’re putting in all of this work and nothing is happening. It can be a little frustrating. But something is happening, we just can’t see it yet. Celtic Spirit Newsletter September 2020 (exerpt)

Greetings to you, Celtic Spirits!

An old Irish blessing prayer for one about to set forth on a journey invokes the ancient Celtic vision of Nine Elements:

May you go forth under the strength of heaven,

under the light of sun, under the radiance of moon;

May you go forth with the splendour of fire,

With the speed of lightning,

With the swiftness of wind;

May you go forth supported by the depth of sea,

By the stability of earth,

By the firmness of rock;

May you be surrounded and encircled,

With the protection of the nine elements.

We might not think of sun, moon, sea, etc. as elements, plus in magical work, our ideas may have been formed by the classical ‘four elements’ of Earth, Air, Fire and Water, which originally came from ancient Greece.

The power of this Celtic vision lies in making us aware of the tremendous forces in the living world that surround, support and protect us. To open up all our senses and feelings to the Nine Elements is to take into ourselves the magnificent power and beauty of our planet.

When you next go for a walk in Nature, feel yourself part of All That Is, breathe in the life force deep into your belly, and feel your identity expand from an atomized ‘little self’ to one who is an integral part of the ‘big Self,’ one with the web of all life!

“Even though you may want to move forward in your life, you may have one foot on the brakes. In order to be free, we must learn how to let go. Release the hurt. Release the fear. Refuse to entertain your old pain. The energy it takes to hang onto the past is holding you back from a new life.”

Journaling is a great way to release and let go. To get things off your chest. Our minds are our own worst enemies. The same thoughts go round and round in the same old ways and keep us stuck.

Gentleness
“There never was any heart truly great and generous that was not also tender and compassionate.”

-Robert South (1634-1716)

Each of our heroes, in life and in literature, throughout history – no matter how strong – has a gentleness to him or her, an openness, a sincerity that shows us that this person really cares. Spiderman is so popular right now because he’s not just this “larger than life” character who has amazing powers – but because he’s also basically a nice guy. He loves his family, and he struggles to do the right thing. He doesn’t like to see people hurt. He’s not all about the money or the recognition; he really wants to help. Who wouldn’t love a gentle soul like that?

Offering Help: Cat’s Angel Message for September 18, 2020

September’s Theme: “What Do I Want?” This is a question that we often ask ourselves. So as we head into Autumn and the time of introspection ask yourself that very question.

Personal peace and joy are often found in helping others. ~ Cat

____________________________

918: Today the angels are asking us to consider this question: “How can I be of service?” Being of service to others is part of everyone’s Life Purpose or Mission. By helping others the energy that extends flows out and on its journey, it touches multiple people and situations before returning to us. Sometimes being of service can be a big undertaking, however, more often than not it’s the small things that bring the greatest joy and reward. There are many ways to be of service: Helping an elderly relative or neighbor. Maybe you know someone who needs a little mentoring or just someone to talk to. Spending quality time with your family. Volunteering at a local charity or even helping a stranger. Embrace unity and community and keep the energy moving today, not only does it makes others feel good, it makes you feel good too!

Today’s Spirit Helpers include:

Archangel Zadkiel teaches us that true compassion and healing lie in our ability to forgive ourselves and others. This is especially helpful when we endeavor to lead by example. It is through forgiveness that we gain insight into what assistance will be beneficial to self and others.

The Ascended Master El Morya supports all who give of themselves to help lift up others. He teaches us the importance of putting aside what we cannot control so that we are free to think about other things. He reminds us that it is our faith that keeps us grounded so that we can embrace both the patience and the clear decision making needed to make things happen.

The Egyptian goddess Hathor helps us to find the answer to the question “How shall I live my life?” She tells us that every moment gives us opportunities for growth. ” When you are filled with indecision you move away from yourself and your power as a creator. Indecision silences you ability to hear your own inner wisdom. If you need my help just ask and I will shower you with energy that will tip the scales in the direction of what you desire.”

Our Sacred Stones for today include:

Inspirational Apatite helps us to be of service by encouraging us to be more open and at ease in social situations as it promotes a humanitarian attitude.

Rhodonite helps to balance both mental and physical energy. It shows us all sides to any given situation and clears away confusion and helps to promote confidence. It’s calming influence helps us to ground and balance even during chaotic or upsetting situations. It also helps to promote the feeling of brotherhood. It also helps to clear and activate the heart chakra which is essential to embracing gratitude while promoting a loving and balanced approach to life and encourages a positive attitude and creativity.

Stilbite which helps us to find creative solutions to problems and enhances our intuition so that we can more effectively offer assistance

Inner Journey: DID YOU FIND JOY?

“The future, higher evolution will belong to those who live in joy, who share joy, and who spread joy.”
— Torkom Saraydarian

Joy, as the energy of love, is the highest vibration on this planet. Everything in the universe is energy; it can be measured and reduced to vibrational frequencies. It’s a universal law that as we think and feel we vibrate, and as we vibrate we attract. When we are in the high joy vibration, we attract what is for our greater good.

The Ancient Egyptians saw Joy as a sacred responsibility. They believed that upon their death, the God Osiris would ask them two questions: “Did you bring Joy?” and “Did you find Joy?” Those who answered ‘yes’ could continue their journey into the afterlife.

For at least the next week or two, ask yourself these two questions each and every day:
•Did I bring joy?
•Did I find joy?

“Man loves because he is Love. He seeks Joy, for he is Joy. He thirsts for God for he is composed of God and he cannot exist without Him.”
— Sathya Sai Baba

Gentleness
“Tenderness is greater proof of love than the most passionate of vows.”

-Marlene Dietrich, 1962

What we do carries more weight than what we say. If we mean what we say, how do we show it? When we’re talking about love – it means being gentle, and tender, and loyal and available. Think of how we respond to a sleeping baby – we cuddle and whisper and walk softly. It’s in our nature to show love by being gentle.

Inner Journey: YOU KNOW THE WAY

“Woe to the man whose heart has not learned while young to hope, to love … and to put its trust in life.”
— Joseph Conrad

How deeply do you trust your own guidance?

Always trust that you know what’s best for you. To move forward in your life, gather information from the “experts,” consider how their advice relates to your situation and then act only on what feels right for you. You are the only expert for your own life.

“I trust so much in the power of the heart and the soul; I know that the answer to what we need to do next is in our own hearts. All we have to do is listen, then take that one step further and trust what we hear. We will be taught what we need to learn.”
— Melody Beattie

“I never know what the next lesson is going to be, because we’re not supposed to know; we’re supposed to trust ourselves to discover it.”

Our quote today reminds us that everything we do has an impact on our lives and can be long term or short term. It all comes down to the choices that we make when faced with situations, people or events. By choosing how we react, what we say, or what we do and making the best possible choice we can mitigate the effect of bad days, and negative encounters.
