Thought For The Day: March 12, 2018 “Breaking Routine”

Happy Monday,

Our thought for the day is about routine. We all have certain things that we do everyday without fail. While being stuck in a routine isn’t a problem per say  it does  keep us closed off from experiencing new things.  As you go through your routine today challenge yourself to do one thing different.  Maybe you take a walk during lunch instead of staying tied to your phone. Or go someplace that you’ve never been before. There are tons of possibilities! The point is to just do something different today. Remember….. variety is the spice of life!

Elder Spirits Surviving the Centuries

In traditional witchcraft we seek to emulate the rituals and wisdom of Witches who came before us. History has not been kind to followers of the Old Ways, and that is reflected by the form currently taken by the patron of our Arte. LIFE AS A MIRROR

“Everything that irritates us about others can lead us to an understanding of ourselves.”
— C.G. Jung

We get clues about our unconscious programming if we watch our reactions, responses, feelings and thoughts about other people and events. Ask yourself: How do I judge or stereotype people? What pushes my buttons? What makes me angry or fearful or sad?

The outer incidents that trigger these reactions in me simply MIRROR my own nature. If I didn’t have beliefs around the issues that upset me, where would my reactions come from? If I didn’t have some internal reference, I wouldn’t react at all.

When outer events spark a reaction, we need to look inside to explore what’s going on.

“We discover in ourselves what others hide from us and we recognize in others what we hide from ourselves.”

Love

“Someday, after we have mastered the winds, the waves, the tides and gravity, we shall harness… the energies of love. Then, for the second time in the history of the world, we will have discovered fire.”  -Pierre Tielhard de Chardin

Is there anything more powerful than love? Love is creative; with love we can accomplish anything. With love we have accomplished everything! Love is the great up-lifter, the strongest force there is. Love heals. Love grows. Love is the basis for life itself. Love is invisible, and yet ever-present. Love is the most valuable gift we will ever give or receive, and yet love is perfectly free.

Happy Friday,

Sometimes happiness feels like an elusive thing. Happiness is not found through material gain. There are some who might disagree with that and I’m sorry for them. People like that just don’t get it. Happiness comes from within and is a combination of gratitude and tiny miracles. The song of a meadowlark brings me absolute happiness, as do hugs, good friends and dancing. THE PATH TO WHOLENESS

We think that God has blessed us if we dont have too many troubles. In fact, religions have erroneously taught us that pain is punishment for our sins. We often ask, “What have I done wrong?” when things do not go the way we want.

Yet, to become ourselves in the truest and deepest sense, we must face our own duality, which of course includes facing our darkness. As souls we strive for wholeness, not for perfection.

At first, we really don’t know what is going on. We just find life difficult, challenging and often painful. Eventually, after much experience and reflection, we start to find meaning in it all. Eventually, we gladly accept the means whereby we can do the Soul work we have come for.

As we become conscious as Souls, we walk our journey purposefully, embracing the reality of our earthly nature along with the truth of our divine nature.

“When we are conscious of our personal uniqueness and our universal nature we express ourselves creatively. In this way we fulfill our dreams and our life purpose.”
— Andrew Schneider

Love

“All’s love, yet all’s law.”-Robert Browning

Love and Law are two sides of the same coin. Everything is love, and at the same time, everything has that organizing power that we can totally count on. There is a reason why we love someone or something. There is a creative purpose to our love. We are not under some spell like the characters in “A Midsummer Night’s Dream.” We love who we love because God, the Universe, brought us together to learn and grow and experience more of our Selves. Love is divine, and yet love is totally practical.

Love

“Love is a fire and I am wood.”  -Rumi

Love has been the subject for poets throughout the ages. In contemporary times, think of how many songs we hear that are all about love! According to the lyrics, “Love is all there is,” and “Love can move mountains.” Love brings us to the movies, where we can see love acted out larger than life and feel our emotions stir. We are drawn to love because that is what we all crave more of. And we crave love because that is what we are made of! Love brings us to our true nature. We are consumed by it because we want to know who we really are, and love allows us to experience that.

Happy Wednesday,

New beginnings or even just keeping yourself moving forward can be hard. Our thought for the day helps to simplify the process.

If we wait for the “perfect” time, it will never come. Make wherever you are right now the right time and take the first step.

If we wait for everything to be handed to us  we never get it. Start with what you have and the rest will come (and then some!)

If we try and force things to happen our forward progress can stop. Do what you can with what you have. The object it to START and get the ball rolling. You’ve totally got this!

Inner Journey: Slow down

“The soul requires duration of time — rich, thick, deep, velvety time — and it thrives on rhythm. Soul cant be hurried or harried …. We may go through many events in the day and experience nothing because the soul has not had the opportunity to feel them from many different points of view.”
— Robert Sardello

Soul cannot exist when our connections in life remain superficial. An experience of soul requires that we take time to be fully present to the details of our lives.

Explore what happens when you take the time to STOP and PAY ATTENTION. When we choose to slow down and really experience the qualities of our lives, we get a whole new perspective on what living is all about.

With wind, and cloud, and changing skies;

Mind Body Green: How To Use Meditation To Stop Negative Thoughts

As a student of meditation and innovative psychology, I’ve found that when you’re working to change inner energy, there is a profound marriage between breathwork and movement. Scientifically, we can move our breath in a certain pattern to slow down the nervous system and check in with ourselves and the world around us, thus becoming mindful in altering our moods and thoughts from negative to positive

A Bountiful Moment:

Receive the gifts of the universe just for being you. Unknown

Daily Thought

There is no restriction, division or prejudice between who gets the many gifts this world has to offer. By waking up you receive all things needed every day. You have the opportunity to develop everything that passes your way or ignore it and wait for the next opportunity to pass. Thinking that you are not as lucky or dont have the same privilege puts restrictions on what you can receive and achieve. Yes we are all different individuals but to the world there is no difference and the gifts it offers as support are the same.

Daily Practice

Look around today and be aware of all the beauty and opportunity the universe has to offer. Be amazed at the miracle of life, be awed at natures gifts, and become inspired by the sunshine, rain or stars. Practice receiving the greatest gifts with gratitude and grace and you will recognize more freely the gifts of opportunity as they become present in your life.

Have a Great Day and Believe in Yourself!

Patheos-Pagan: Witchery as an Orientation and Sacred Mission

In my article, Witchcraft Plays the Long Game I wrote, Many would ask me, why witchcraft? Because it works, and it isn’t a choice. A dear friend asked me to explain what I meant about this not being a choice for me. He reminded me that I often correlate witchery with personal sovereignty and free-will, so how is it consistent that I have no choice in the matter?

Inner Journey

GROWING OURSELVES

“The great thing in the world is not so much where we stand, as in what direction we are moving.”
— Oliver Wendell Holmes

We are all on a life-long journey. It is a search for who we are and why we are here. It is a journey that expands our consciousness.

There is an urge within each of us to move forward in life. It is an urge to become more whole, to find more meaning, and eventually to help others. It is human nature to strive for a sense of well-being.

We all go through the same growth cycles, though our experiences may appear entirely different. By understanding the process of personal and spiritual growth, we can work more effectively with the process, instead of fighting and resisting it.

“We can learn to be the catalysts for our own change.”
— Sarah Ban Breathnach

A Note from the Universe

Not that you haven’t figured this out but the person who can point to their own acts of kindness, no matter how plentiful, is not necessarily a kind person; who can point to their own acts of thoughtfulness, no matter how plentiful, is not necessarily thoughtful; who can point to their own acts of generosity, no matter how plentiful, is not necessarily generous… and so on.

Yeah, they still rock. As do you.

Mucho love,

The Universe

Today’s Recipe: Butterscotch Squares

My husband loves the butterscotch squares at See’s Candies. But, it can get expensive to “feed” his habit! I came across a recipe for copycat butterscotch squares. They looked so good, that I had to make them. They are delicious. The texture is similar to old-timey fudge. The flavor is deep and rich, similar to penuche. The only change I made was dipping my candies in chocolate chips.

Love

“Love is the central flame of the universe, nay, the very fire itself.” -Ernest Holmes

This week, our focus is on “love.” What else is there, really? A Course in Miracles says that there are only two things in this life – love and fear… and when it all comes down to it, there is really just love. For just a little word, LOVE is a huge concept. Love is our greatest motivator, our deepest inspiration. No wonder love is so often associated with fire, and desire, and burning passion. It warms us, heals us, frees us.

MNN: Divers unearth 7,000-year-old Native American burial site off Florida coast

The ever-rising tide of history can obscure many things, but one thing archaeologists may not have expected to be hidden was a 7,000-year-old Native American burial site.

The site, located a mere 900 feet (275 meters) off the coast of Manasota Key in Florida is preserved in what would have been a “a peat-bottomed freshwater pond thousands of years ago,” according to a statement released by the Florida Department of State.
