EarthSky News: How to locate planet Uranus

Tonight – January 14, 2019 – the waxing gibbous moon is roughly one day past first quarter phase and shines rather close to the 7th planet, Uranus, on the sky’s dome. Uranus is located in the the constellation Pisces the Fishes, though very close to the border of the constellation Aries the Ram. This faint planet – barely bright enough to be glimpsed with the eye alone on a moonless night – will cross over into the constellation Aries in February 2019, but the moon will leave this section of the starry sky after a day or two.

Inner Journey:

DEFINE ‘RICH

“It ain’t so much trouble to get rich as it is to tell when we have got rich.”
— Josh Billings

How do you define ‘rich’?

If you want greater wealth, what does that mean for you? A large annual income? If so, how large? A beautiful home? Health? Security? Happiness? To be in service?

Get really specific about what would bring you a rich life. There are no right and wrong answers here. Don’t judge your desires. Just dig deep to discover what it is that you really want. If you want things, explore what qualities of life those things represent to you.

“No one can tell whether they are richer or poor by turning to their ledger. It is the heart that makes a person rich. One is rich according to what one is, not according to what one has.”
— Henry Ward Beecher

“If we command our wealth, we shall be rich and free. If our wealth commands us, we are poor indeed.”
— Edmund Burke

Moments

“Each moment we live is a new and unique moment of the universe, a moment that never was before and never will be again.”

-Pablo Casals
I was given this quote when I was sixteen, and I have it displayed in my office today. Being “in the moment” is one of those things that is so easy to say, yet sometimes so hard to do. The moments seem to pass by us so quickly. We find ourselves saying: “Where did the time go?” So it’s important to stay present, and to recognize the value of those moments. In spirit, there is no time or place… but we’re here, in this physical body, on this earth, for a reason. Here there is time, here there are moments – moments we can hold and treasure, moments where we can learn and grow.

“No matter what difficulty you are facing, it is coming from Divine Light to bring you to a higher place within. Spiritual Unite: 4 Common Signs Of Spiritual Growth

Mara Freeman’s Celtic Spirit Newsletter

Good tidings to you at Lammas!

Love’s Harvest
It’s high summer – time to celebrate the old Celtic festival known as Lughnasadh in Ireland and Lammas in Britain – the traditional time of pilgrimage in the northern Celtic lands where for centuries people have rejoiced in the endless light-filled days by climbing sacred hills, drinking at holy wells, or voyaging to green islands set like jewels in a sunlit sea.

As we pause in our labours, celebrate the warm weather and enjoy the fruits of our daily work, we have an opportunity to take stock of what the seasons so far have yielded: to reflect upon our hopes and dreams that were sown in the dawn of the year, came to life in the springtime, and are now maybe ready to bear fruit. On the spiritual level, we can ask ourselves what wisdom we have garnered so far this year: What will be the harvest of our souls?

For as the wheel turns, the life-giving triumph of the harvest must give way to death, reminding us that nothing stands still, and that on the human level, for whatever is gained in our lives, there must be an equal giving-away, a sacrifice, so that cosmic balance and order can be maintained.

‘Sacrifice’ can be a bit of an alarming term, implying that something we hold dear must be given up. But this is only part of the truth. For in loosening our tightly-bound identity as a small, separate individual, disconnected from each other and from the Divine, we create an opening for Love to pour in – for all beings, including the Earth herself, and the hidden worlds beyond our senses – and so reap a greater harvest of compassion, peace and joy.

Inner Journey:

TIME TO BLOSSOM

“The voice of our original self is often muffled, overwhelmed, even strangled, by the voices of other people’s expectations.”
— Julia Cameron

Many of us unconsciously believe that we’re unworthy or defective. We adopted this belief very early in our lives when the people we looked up to disapproved of our demands, wishes and behaviours. We concluded that we had to learn to be good.

Unfortunately, ‘being good’ usually meant giving up our own differences or uniqueness. We learned that we might get the love we wanted if we acted and felt like others wanted us to.

If we seek true joy and connection with life, we now need to remove these artificial masks and express our deep authentic nature.

“For all those years you’ve protected the seed. It’s time to become the beautiful flower.”

“‘Lughnassad’ means ‘the funeral games of Lugh’, referring to Lugh, the Irish sun god. However, the funeral is not his own, but the funeral games he hosts in honor of his foster-mother Tailte. For that reason, the traditional Tailtean craft fairs and Tailtean marriages (which last for a year and a day) are celebrated at this time. As autumn begins, the Sun God enters his old age, but is not yet dead. It is also a celebration of the first harvest. The Christian religion adopted this theme and called it ‘Lammas’, meaning ‘loaf-mass’, a time when newly baked loaves of bread are placed on the altar. An alternative date around August 5 (Old Lammas), when the sun reaches 15 degrees Leo, is sometimes employed by Covens.”

A Bountiful Moment

If you know what you want you can find a way to get it. Napoleon Hill

Daily Thought: When you are setting goals make sure you are clear and specific in what you are looking to achieve. By stating that you want to be happy, have more money, be independent are all illusive general goals. Define and be specific about what those general terms mean. Will you be happy if you enter into a healthy relationship? If you make an additional $10,000? Or if you can buy a car? If you make your intentions clear and specific you will achieve them.

Daily Practice: Think of the goals you have set to achieve. Do they need to be made clearer? Think of every single detail about the end goal. Colors, shapes, how you would interact with the goal. What does your end goal look like? The more you can see what you are trying to achieve the better ability your mind has to develop and act on ways to create it. Don’t be afraid to dream big and never give up!

Note: to be clear, it’s not that the position of the Earth “causes” anything, or that these planets and their positions rain a cascade of “energy” down on us. Patheos-Pagan: When The Moon Is Not Creative

I have as yet to encounter a discourse about the Moon card in the Tarot that will not start with ‘creativity’ as one of the moon’s primary ‘meanings’.

I have a problem with this, especially when, in dynamic reading consultations that are not informed by the ‘little white book’, the Moon hardly ever points to a type of creativity that’s also constrained, and hence useful.

Inner Journey:
FEELING TRAPPED? SLOW DOWN!

“If you’re having difficulty coming up with new ideas, then slow down. For me, slowing down has been a tremendous source of creativity. It has allowed me to open up — to know that there’s life under the earth and that I have to let it come through me in a new way. Creativity exists in the present moment. You can’t find it anywhere else.”
— Natalie Goldberg

Feeling trapped in some way? Give yourself space. Space to do nothing but breathe. To intentionally relax those tight muscles. To just for a few precious minutes, let it all go.

The world will keep turning if you tune out for a short while. And your world will begin to recover its balance.

“It’s important to be heroic, ambitious, productive, efficient, creative, and progressive, but these qualities don’t necessarily nurture soul. The soul has different concerns, of equal value: downtime for reflection, conversation, and reverie; beauty that is captivating and pleasuring; relatedness to the environs and to people; and any animal’s rhythm of rest and activity.”

Thought for the Day: Sept. 13, 2017 “It’s All Connected”

Happy Wednesday!

Our thought for the day is about connection.  Everything in this world is connected and interconnected. Everything, no matter how large or how small is part of the whole. What happens to one happens to many, what affects one affects all… eventually. I am reminded of the aspen groves. Each grove starts with a single tree, That tree creates more aspen trees and all are connected to each other. What happens to one eventually happens to them all. This connectedness happens around us everyday. Like the aspen trees what we do, say, feel, and send out has an effect on others in our “grove”. By working together we create a healthy grove that will continue to grow and thrive. This helps to create strong, new groves and healthy connections. How does your grove look?
