ThoughtCo: Mabon History: The Second Harvest
Two days a year, the Northern and Southern hemispheres receive the same amount of sunlight. Not only that, each receives the same amount of light as they do dark—this is because the earth is tilted at a right angle to the sun, and the sun is directly over the equator. In Latin, the word equinox translates to “equal night.”

Daily Good: Bronnie Ware: Living Without Regrets
“Bronnie Ware is an author and speaker whose bestselling book, The Top Five Regrets of the Dying, is based on her time as a palliative care worker. In this episode of Insights at the Edge, Bronnie outlines these five major life regrets with Tami Simon and discusses the experiences in end-of-life care that inspired them. Bronnie explains how most regrets arise from a lack of courage and why people are willing to share so openly during their last days. Tami and Bronnie speak on the healing power of sharing our most vulnerable selves, even if it’s in a letter that we never send. Finally, they talk about maintaining trust in the flow of life and why happiness is ultimately a choice.”

Elephant Journal: Why Saving the Butterflies is just as Important as the Bees.
Seeing a Monarch used to be quite common, but now, they are in trouble.
Their numbers are declining rapidly. In fact, their numbers have decreased by 90 percent in just 20 years. In California, in just one year, their numbers dropped 86 percent.
These butterflies are marvelous creatures. They are the only insect that migrates to a warmer climate. In fact, National Geographic says, “it’s one of the greatest natural events on Earth.”

EarthSky News: Perseids about to peak!
When is the peak of the Perseid meteor shower in 2019? The most meteors are most likely to fall in the predawn hours on August 13, yet under the light of a bright waxing gibbous moon. The mornings of August 11 and 12 are surely worth trying, too, especially as there will be more moon-free viewing time on these mornings

Patheos-Pagan: A Beautiful Sacrifice
Many Pagans and polytheists have an uneasy relationship with sacrifice.
Many of us come to this path through Wicca, where “The Charge of the Goddess” – the closest thing there is to scripture in the modern Pagan world –

Inner Journey:
WHAT ARE YOU LACKING?
“Money cannot fill an empty soul.”
— Julia Cameron & Mark Bryan
Where in your life are you experiencing lack?
Are you experiencing a lack of self esteem? Of humour? Of energy? Of love? Of money and abundance? Whatever you believe you are missing, it is there to be claimed.
The first step starts with shifting your perspective. See the glass as half full rather than half empty. Focus on accepting and appreciating what you DO have, and more will be attracted to you.
“Both abundance and lack exist simultaneously in our lives, as parallel realities. It is always our conscious choice which secret garden we will tend… when we choose not to focus on what is missing from our lives but are grateful for the abundance that’s present — love, health, family, friends, work, the joys of nature and personal pursuits that bring us pleasure — the wasteland of illusion falls away and we experience Heaven on earth.”

Ideas
“Every new idea has something of the pain and peril of childbirth about it.”
-Samuel Butler (1835-1902)
It seems like ideas are a dime a dozen, there are so many of them out there. But the real value comes from the execution of those ideas! Ah! How many times have we seen some invention or some new contraption and said: “I thought of that!” Yes, and someone else did, too- and the difference is that someone took that idea and ran with it, and made it a reality. It’s easy and fun to sit around and brainstorm. The “pain and peril” comes from the work that is involved in developing the idea into something that is viable, something that is tangible.

Daily Tarot: Wheel of Fortune
Restlessness and boredom could slow you down and take you off on some unintended tangent. If you can’t break free of the usual routine today, do what’s necessary and perhaps schedule more delicate tasks for another time when it will be easier to be precise and attend to details. Know your own limits and if possible don’t take on something that will only frustrate you. If you must, start slow.
