Beliefnet: 10 Ways to Turn a Bad Day Around
Not all days start off well, and some of them might end a little worse. Small, trivial things can trigger bad days like sleeping past the alarm, getting into a spat with your partner, or spilling mustard on your shirt. But you don’t need to stress if your day seems to be zapping your energy or making you unhappy or frustrated. Here are 10 simple things that can help you turn a bad day around.

A Bountiful Moment:

Whatever happens to me today will prove to be a beautiful blessing.

Daily Thought: Going with the flow sometimes takes effort. We are all creatures of habit and have a need to control. We feel safe and comfortable when things stay the same. But going with the flow of the day can provide a view of opportunities that are present and missed. Don’t cloud your daily thinking with constant struggle to have things the same. Sometimes you need to take a step back, release control, and just let good things happen.

Daily Practice: Change your habits today. Do something that is out of your normal schedule. Go home from work a different way, skip watching the news or some other program that is a habit. While you are doing that look at all the new things that are different from the norm. Appreciate and enjoy them.

Have a Great Day and Believe in Yourself!

Inner Journey: Why? Why? Why?
“As long as one keeps searching, the answers come.”
— Joan Baez

Asking ourselves ‘why?’ helps us delve deeply into our main motives — why we do what we do. This process helps us go deeper into our reasoning, habits and unconscious beliefs. Once we become aware of our underlying motives, we can choose to change them, if we wish.

Regularly ask yourself, ‘Why am I…?’ Listen closely for the answer that surfaces in your mind, and write it down. Now look at your answer and ask why again. Continue with this process to reach the true source of your motivation.

A Bountiful Moment

There is a solution to every problem

Daily Thought: Every problem encountered will go through stages to resolution. 1. The problem occurs and appears as overwhelming and insurmountable. 2. The problem becomes less chaotic and devastating and more about the solution. 3. A solution is thought about and a plan is developed. 4. The solution is acted upon. 5. The problem becomes less relevant the status quo returns. Always remember no matter what the problem is there is always a solution.

Daily Practice: Make sure you don’t get stuck or that you are not stuck in a problem cycle. Look at your daily functioning and life situations and determine if you have become stalled without implementing a solution to a problem. Make sure you are always moving forward in your life momentum whether the problems you encounter take one plan of action or multiple plans to overcome.

Inner Journey: Contemplate Unity

“Poverty is in separatism. Abundance is in unity.”
— Torkom Saraydarian

Watch for those times when you perceive yourself to be separate from the rest of the world. When you find yourself feeling uncomfortable, threatened or isolated, remember Neale Donald Walsch’s words: “there’s only one of us in this room.”

When we perceive differences in thinking and behaving, we might remember that these are merely different expressions of the one universal life force. We can release judgment as to whether those differences are right or wrong or good or bad. We can drop the labels that divide the world into pieces, and simply appreciate the rich variety of ways that energy can manifest as form.

“If we are to achieve a rich culture, rich in contrasting values, we must recognize the whole gamut of human potentialities, and so weave a less arbitrary social fabric, one in which each diverse human gift will find a fitting place.”

Spirituality & Health: 5 ways To Declutter Your Social Life

We declutter our drawers, our cars and our closets. How often do we tidy up our social lives? They probably aren’t terribly streamlined, as pruning them sounds so  severe. It’s okay to take stock. Consider the research of esteemed anthropologist Robin Dunbar, who studies the evolutionary structure of social networks in primates. He’s found there’s a ceiling to just how many meaningful relationships at a time we can have, and it’s based on brain size. For humans, it tops out at 150 about the size of a small village. More than that, it’s simply too hard to maintain. Let’s look at the idea of streamlining your friendships.

A Bountiful Moment:

Instead of saying “I can’t”  ask yourself  “what can I do” to create the solution.

Daily Thought: Stop repeating I can’t and starting thinking what am I doing or what can I do to change what is creating the current stress or difficult situation. Every day place your focus on the solution to direct tomorrows living. The solution will allow you to maintain control over your life and your future.

Daily Practice: Pay attention today to the times you tell yourself you cannot do something. Why are you telling yourself that? Note what is happening and why you feel like you have no power over what is occurring. Then take a deep breathe and think of every possible solution to change what you cant do. Do not dismiss anything, every thought counts until you find one that works. Apply the possible and be in control.

Inner Journey: Hope and Disappointment

“It’s precisely the disappointing stories, which have no proper ending and therefore no proper meaning, that sound true to life.”
— Max Frisch

“Don’t get your hopes up!”

Were you warned of this as a child? What does this say? It says that life is bound to disappoint you. It says, don’t aim high because you’re not likely to get what you want. It says that we can’t expect good things to happen to us.

As our thinking creates our reality, this kind of thinking dooms us to a mundane existence. It’s time to change our stories. Why not focus the immense power of our hearts and minds on bringing to fruition the very best life has to offer? Allow yourself to hope and believe in all possibilities.

“Hope is the companion of power, and the mother of success; for who so hopes has within him the gift of miracles.”
— Samuel Smiles

There are two reasons why I’ve made these scrumptious tangerine lime bars. First off, I love tangerine and lime flavours so much, I think they need to be stars of more foods. Secondly, my tangerine and lime trees really outdid my lemon tree this year, so when I went to pick fruit in my garden, this was the best idea for a sweet treat! This a very simplified recipe, so there is no egg separating or tempering necessary. The flavours aren’t as tart as lemon bars, they’re well rounded and velvety. I hope you give these a try. 🙂

This is thanks to the fact that the Spring Equinox is an important day in Shinto and Buddhism, the two main religions in Japan which are more or less merged with each other. Welcome to the first day of Spring! This is a time of new beginnings and we’re going to start it off with a challenge. How often do you say something negative about yourself? Negative self talk can be damaging and sometimes we aren’t even aware that it’s happening. Others often see it as  self deprecating humor but the sad truth is we mean it when we say it. A Bountiful Moment

Within each challenge lies the opportunity for growth

Daily Thought

Challenges present as a distraction to what needs to be accomplished. They can also present you with a block that will stop you from moving toward your goal(s). So it is important to remember that challenges are only a sign and opportunity for you to continue your growth, development and commitment. It is not what you see as the challenge that is the growth opportunity but you’re working through the challenge that gives you that present.

Daily Practice

Consciously look for the challenges and obstacles in your day. Do not search for what is easy today but purposefully look at what is hard for you. Pay attention to the situation and pay attention to your solution. After you have completed the challenge make a written or mental note of your strengths and personal attributes that got you through it. Rejoice in your abilities to overcome.

Have a Great Day and Believe in Yourself!

I reach for the music; but I want the quiet of my mind. I’m always looking for something, to fill the silence, and drown out the din. It’s been a struggle this year; it’s been unspeakably hard. I’ve spoken of it. The words won’t always come when bidden.
There’s a place inside of me, that sings. It resides around campfires, and sways to the feeling of bodies in tune with mine. It recognizes the stars at night, and hopes for more of itself. It knows things. It resonates. It calls to me.

Inner Journey: Imprisoned By Your Thoughts

“Problems exist only in the human mind.”
— Anthony de Mello

For most of us, there’s always a long ‘to do’ list. That’s a fact.

And it’s easy to feel victimized. ‘Poor me!’ That’s not a fact – that’s a choice.

Experiment with your life to explore how much your mind is your jailer. Simply let go of the ‘oh woe’ kinds of thoughts. Silence your mind. Be right here, right now. Decide what you will do now and do it, without buying in to the mind’s sob story. When one task is done, you can then choose another.

Allowing the mind to agonize about the size of the ‘to do’ list just makes us tired before we even get started. It doesn’t have to be this way.

“Don’t water your weeds.”
— Harvey Mackay

Kindness

“Only kindness matters. We are God’s hands.” -Jewel

Ask anyone what they value most in a person, what they remember most about a person, and chances are that they will say ‘kindness.’ Kindness always makes such a positive and lasting impression! Why is that? Is it because we encounter it all too rarely these days? Being kind is such a simple gesture, yet it is one that is often disregarded. Let’s make an effort today to recognize kindness in others, and to express kindness ourselves.

MNN: How to humanely keep wildlife out of the garden

You’ve no doubt heard the saying “she wouldn’t harm a fly.” It’s a phrase that could easily be applied to Theresa Rooney, a gentle soul whose desire to live in harmony with creatures in her garden led her to write “Humane Critter Control, The Guide to Natural, Nontoxic Pest Solutions to Protect Your Yard and Garden.”

Happy Monday,

We are all unique and beautiful. The ridiculous trend of “shaming” others has gotten old. Real people look like real people not carbon copies of the latest fad. Skinny, curvy or goddess size ……….. ALL are beautiful including you! Embrace your own beauty, inner and outer. Be yourself and own it flaws and all!
