Thought for the Day: May 24, 2017

Happy Wednesday, we’ve made it to the middle of the week! As my dad use to say “It’s all downhill from here.”

Do you remember when happiness was finding a dandelion seed puff? You made a wish and then blew the seeds off, sending your wish out into the Universe. Our thoughts are much like those  dandelion seeds.  Each thought is a wish that is carried on divine winds until it finds the right soil in which to take root. Some seeds take root right away, while others take longer because they need the right “nutrients” to activate the growth cycle. Keep sending out those thought seeds and don’t become discouraged if things don’t happen immediately.  The Universe will not hand you something you’re not quite ready for so when the time is right they will grow and soon you will have a garden of blessings!

Thought for the Day: May 23, 2017

Happy Tuesday, I’m sitting here with my coffee and  watching the hummingbirds buzz around the feeders. There’s a kind of meditative peace in watching them, it soothes the soul. Yesterday’s senseless act of violence (the latest in a long and growing line of them) at the Ariana Grande concert in Manchester left me deeply saddened. These events touch us all in one way or another. I spent the late afternoon outside letting the Earth Goddess energy flow through me. Barefoot in the grass , letting the wind  blow through me, putting my senses back in order.

Be at peace- be peace, Send love out into the world-be love, Embrace joy- be joy, Let healing for others flow outward- be healed…………….

Thought for the Day: May 22, 2017

Good Morning & Happy Monday!

Life is about learning and the lessons that we learn are the things that help us to grow.  Some lessons are easy and painless while others keep reoccurring causing us heartache and grief. Our thought for the day reminds us that we will be faced with the same lessons over and over until we learn what it’s trying to teach us. We can spend copious amounts of time making the same mistakes or we can gather our courage and move on. We have to remember that not everything can be changed or fixed and it’s okay to move on. It requires great courage on our part to acknowledge this, to look that lesson in the face and say “Thank you for teaching me what I need to know and I am a better person for this knowledge.” There are always choices, so allow a new path to open for you and create the life you have envisioned.

The Past is a Prism: Cat’s Angel Number for May 19, 2017

The Past is a Prism: Cat’s Angel Number for May 19, 2017

May’s Theme:  Change – Growth – Embrace New Adventures

The past is not simply the past, but a prism through which the subject filters his own changing self image.  ~ Doris Kearns Goodwin

519: One of the best things that we can do for ourselves is to embrace a positive self image. We have all heard the phrase “love yourself”, it’s  not only an important part of self care, it also helps to increase our self confidence and feelings of worth. When we love ourselves and like who we are it shows. That’s not to say that there isn’t room for improvement (there’s always room for that) because we really are a work in progress. A positive self image tells the world “I am confident in who I am and I like myself. I am not perfect, however I am trying to be the best person I can be .” Today the angels are saying “Give yourself a BIG hug and embrace the amazing being  you are!”

Our helper’s for today include Archangel Chamuel who helps promote good relationships with other and with ourselves, Ascended Masters Kuan Yin who helps us with all forms of self care, love and kindness for others and ourselves, Maitreya (Laughing Buddha) who brings laughter and joy into our lives, it is through these things that we find ourselves centered in the moment, enjoy the process of inner and outer growth.

Our sacred stones for today are Sodalite and Rose Quartz. Sodalite is a stone for the mind. It encourages clear thinking and calms the mind. It helps us to be objective and helps us to release old mental conditioning and outdated thought patterns as it boosts self esteem. Rose Quartz is the essential self love and care stone. It works with the heart chakra to gently wash away negative feeling that we harbor against ourselves and lifts the emotions to promote joy and peace.

Blessings for a magickal day!

TGIF Ya’ll! We are on the verge of successfully making it through another week so give yourself a BIG hug! You deserve it! So………….. here’s a question for you………. What truly matters in your life? I bet it’s not the latest techno gadget or social media drama. The things that matter, really matter are different for everyone. For me it’s spending quality time with my husband and my mom. It’s the quality me time that’s necessary for my personal well being, there are other things but you probably get the idea. When we focus on the things that matter to us our stress levels go down, we feel at peace and our hearts and spirits sing. Take a deep breath………….. just breathe, ground and center. Let the weekday “things” fall away. This is your time, time to focus on what truly matters…..

Happy Thursday, we have rain today and  the flowers are loving it, my cats…………..not so much! Sometimes it’s the small things that make us the happiest and quite often other people have  nothing to with it.  We are each responsible for our own happiness, it is something that we create and nurture. You are not responsible for everyone else’s happiness although there are selfish people who would have you believe otherwise.

Our challenge for today is to acknowledge the little things that make YOU happy! For me it’s the smell of rain and wet earth, time spent with my mom, snuggles with my cat Sixx (I’m sure there will be more to add to my list)……..so what makes you happy today?

Happy Wednesday, we’ve made it to the middle of another week!

The rain is coming, we had a brief shower yesterday out of a sunny sky and the scent was a magickal experience. Our resident pair of nesting ravens are out and about this morning and as always they have a lot to say. The male has  a deep gravelly voice and he’s “chuckling” over something his mate has said on her flyby. We have a light breeze, a frontrunner for the storm coming in, the trees are whispering and our big  wind chime is singing to itself. This is one of my favorite times of the day, the world feels reborn, new……..fresh. It’s a calming and peaceful way to start the day. Nature has that effect and if we allow it’s energy to fill us we can start the day in hozro, harmony.

Happy Tuesday!

Wouldn’t it be wonderful if every day was amazingly awesome? However we all know that bad days happen, sometimes more often that we would like. I’ve learned that even on the worst days there is always at least ONE good thing that happened. Sift through the events of the day and set the bad things to the side (don’t focus or dwell on them). As you sift look for the shining lights of  “good” things. Pick them up, dust them off and allow that spark to ease your spirit.

Blessings for a magical day!

Happy Monday and welcome to a new week!

Intuition is something we all have to a greater or lesser degree, it’s our personal guidance system.   Instinctively we just “know” if something  does or doesn’t feel right. The key to intuition lies in paying attention to it when it speaks to you. Man, if I had a dollar for every time someone said ” I had a hunch about that, I just wish I had listened to it.”  The point is to never be afraid to listen and trust the vibes. Those vibes can keep you safe or even bring you great joy……………… are you listening?

A few minutes ago every tree was excited, bowing to the roaring storm, waving swirling, tossing their branches in glorious enthusiasm like worship. But though to the outer ear these trees are now silent, their songs never cease.

The Celtic Tree Month of Hawthorn
May 13th to June 9th.The Tree

The origin of the word Hawthorn comes from the Anglo-saxon “Haegthorn” which means hedgethorn or thorny hedge. This tree grows to the size of a large shrub, although it can reach 30 feet, and is  popular as a hedge plant in England. It has dense branches that grow in twists and turns which makes it almost impenetrable. It also grows some pretty nasty thorns. The wood is exceptionally hard and fine grained, and burns quite hot. The new growth on a Hawthorn is reddish and in May it sports white flowers and later in the season red berries both of which have medicinal properties. This tree has a very long life span and has been known to reach 400 years old. The Hawthorn was often called the May Tree because its fragrant white flowers bloomed in May just in time for Beltane. These flowers were used for decorating maypoles and homes for this holiday.

This tree has a dual reputation. To the Greeks and Romans the flowers were lucky and used for weddings. However, the Europeans associated the Hawthorn witches and was therefore unlucky.  The Irish Brehon word for hawthorn means “harm” and centuries ago in Asia the flowers were not brought into the home as they were associated with death.

In Healing

In healing, the flowers, leaves and berries are used. A tonic made from the berries is said to help water retention in diabetics. The leaves and flowers can be made into a tea that helps anxiety, poor circulation, asthma, arthritis, loss of voice and rheumatism. (Remember, always consult your doctor before adding any herbs to your regimen)

In Myth & Magic

In mythology, the Hawthorn plays a roll in the romantic welsh tale of Kulhwch and Olwen. It embodies the protector of Olwens virginity, a giant called Yspaddaden. The giant is slain as the spring flowers (Hawthorn) open, which symbolizes summer defeating winter and the turning of the seasons. In other lore, the erotic scent of the Hawthorn blossoms is said to enhance fertility and promote chastity. The ancient Turks called it ‘the scent of woman” and was considered an erotic symbol.

Because of it’s nasty thorns it is believed that the “Crown of Thorns” worn by Jesus at the Crucifixion was made from Hawthorn branches.

The Hawthorn was used to protect the home from lightning and negative entities, and the ancient Romans believed that children were protected from evil spells if it was placed in their cradle. It could grant wishes and could be found guarding sacred wells and crossroads.

Hawthorn has long been considered a witches tree and is part of the sacred triad of Oak, Ash and Thorn (the three realms/ maiden, mother, crone). It is also a favorite of fairies which makes it very unlucky to cut one down or harm it in any way.

To dream of pink Hawthorn flowers means happiness, but if they are white it means money. If you dream of the tree itself it means harmony among friends. As a magical name Hawthorn is perfect for witches of either sex.

Hawthorn People

People born during this month are full of great ideas and tend to be multi talented innovators. These people may also be performers in an artistic format, much like the Bards of old. They also make shrewd business people and have little patience with folks who do not take their work seriously. They can also be very protective of family and those they consider family.
