Thought For The Day: August 9, 2018 ” Open Mind – Open Heart

Happy Thursday,

This is one of those “never stop learning” days. There comes a point when we acknowledge that we don’t know everything. When we are open to the questions we open ourselves to unlimited possibilities. Asking questions  brings an open mind and an open heart!

Spirituality & Health: 5 Ways to Deal with Allergies Naturally

Allergy reactions always remind me of a roll call of the Seven Dwarfs: Sneezy, Grumpy? Here. Dopey and Sleepy, if you need to take strong allergy medicine. Doc is here if you need an appointment with the allergist. But in all seriousness, seasonal allergic rhinitis, or “hay fever” can make the summer months pretty miserable. For this week’s Healthy Habit, I went in pursuit of a few easy, natural ways to reduce allergy reactions.

MindBodyGreen:  Why Being Selfish Is Actually A Good Thing

OK, let’s come clean right off the bat: How many of you felt guilty even seeing the word “selfish” written in the title of this article?

We can all agree that our society has attached a negative connotation to the word “selfish.” It’s used in arguments to suggest that you care about yourself more than your spouse, partner, child, parent, or friend. Somehow you are deemed a “bad” person by focusing on your own needs, desires, and wants first.

Elephant Journal: 3 Ways to Get Back on the Spiritual Bandwagon when we Lose our Momentum.

It never ceases to amaze me how easy it is to fall off the wagon when we’re on the spiritual grind.
We get into a nice rhythm of meditation, writing, reading, exercise, and all the rest of it—hitting that sweet spot within our soul and melting into the present moment—

Mother Nature Network: Kilauea’s new spectacle: It’s raining green gems

Kilauea has been erupting for five weeks, forcing evacuations and evaporating Hawaii’s largest freshwater lake in a matter of hours.

Now residents are reporting a new side effect from the volcano: Small green rocks falling from the sky and appearing near lava flows.
It may sound odd, but it’s just nature at work.

EarthSky News: Moon sweeping through Leo the Lion

On June 17, 18 and 19, the moon is moving through the zodiacal constellation Leo the Lion. It’s to the west of Leo’s brightest star, Regulus, on June 17 and to the east of Regulus on June 18, as seen from the Americas. But there’s more to see in tonight’s sky, if you take the time to look.

Patheos-Pagan: 8 Things to do for Summer Solstice as a Solitary Pagan

Many Pagans are solitary practitioners, either by choice or by necessity. But a lot of Pagan activities for the Summer Solstice are designed for large groups. In 2014 and 2015 I wrote a series of rituals for those working alone on the Wheel of the Year. Every year they’re near the top of the list of most popular posts – here’s the Summer Solstice ritual.

Inner Journey:

EXPLORE WITH QUESTIONS

“The word ‘question’ is derived from the Latin ‘quarrier’ (to seek) which is also the root of ‘quest.’ A creative life is a continued quest, and good questions can be very useful guides. Most useful are open-ended questions; they allow for fresh unanticipated answers to reveal themselves.”
— Source Unknown

Questions hold the power to draw out answers that surprise us. If we are on an inner journey to greater self-knowledge, we must seek to understand unfamiliar parts of ourselves. The most enlightening answers are released by our subconscious minds or by our intuition. Use questions frequently to go exploring.

Try these out:
• What qualities do you find most attractive in others? How do you exhibit those same qualities?
• What is your greatest fear? Why do you fear that?
• What message is your body trying to get through to you?

“If we would have new knowledge, we must get a whole world of new questions.”
— Susanne K. Langer

“You don’t want a million answers as much as you want a few forever questions.”
— Richard Bach

A Note from the Universe

People who do all they can, with what they’ve got, from where they are,  no matter how puny their actions, how tiny their steps, or how futile it may seem, simply have more fun. Way.

Of course, to the uninitiated it doesn’t appear that way. To them it appears as if only those taking gigantic leaps, who drive cars with fancy wheels, have loads of friends, perfect bodies, and fly around the world in First Class Sleeper Seats, are having fun. But what they don’t realize is that we’re often talking about the very same folks, just at different points in their journey.

Coffee, tea, or a brand new Bentley?

Creativity

“To fulfill a dream, to be allowed to sweat over lonely labor, to be given the chance to create, is the meat and potatoes of life. The money is the gravy. As everyone else, I love to dunk my crust in it. But alone, it is not a diet designed to keep body and soul together.”  -Bette Davis

Our creativity is our nourishment, it is nutrition for our spirit! We cannot truly live without it. We are born creative beings, and we are creating every moment with every decision that we make. We are creating our lives right now.

Thought For The Day: May 21, 2018 “It’s Okay To Ask”

Happy Monday,

What makes asking questions so difficult and why is it so hard to admit that we don’t know something? I believe it comes down to ego and the fact that no one wants to look “stupid”. Isn’t it better to ask a question than to pretend to know everything? After all  pretending to know the answers will always come back and bite you in the butt. Remember, if you ask  someone a question and they cop an attitude then chances are pretty good that they don’t know either. Be confident in admitting you don’t know something because it means that you are open to learning!
