Imbolc Correspondences

Imbolc Correspondences

Date: February 2

Names: Imbolc, Imbolg, Oimealg, Brids day

Imbolc is a Greater or White Sabbat

It symbolizes fire and puirification, the quickening of the earth, and flows of milk for the baby Sun God. This is a time for initiation, dedication, re-affirmation and burning the Yule greens.

Colors for Imbolc: White, yellow or light blue

Herbs and Incense for Imbolc: Bay, basil, benzoin, angelicia, myrrh, blackberry, celandine, heather, iris, violet

Food and Drink for Imbolc: Dairy products, raisins, creamy soups, olives, leeks/shallots. White wine, milk, soy milk or water

Imbolc is the festival of “When the ewes lactate” and is the mid-point of the dark part of the year. Brigid’s fire that she kindled at Yule is now evident in the pregnancy of the herd animals and the fullness of their udders. It also celebrates the waiting bride of the Sun God.

Farm tools are consecrated at this time of year, home fires are put out and relit as are the smithy fires. Both are blessed.

This is the time to make Brigid’s crosses for yourself and for others as protective charms for the home. Brigid’s snake emerges from the Earth Mothers womb to see what the weather will be– if this sounds familiar, it should as this is the origin of Groundhogs Day!

If you made a corn dollie for Lughnasadh, you should make a Brides bed the evening of Feb 1st. She should be dressed in white or blue and placed in a basket near the hearth. The Celts would toss nuts into the basket as fertility symbols.

Lighting of a Candle Wheel ( an evergreen wreath that hold candles) as a form of sympathetic magick to lure the God back to us.

**Note ** As with any ritual using candles please use caution and never leave them unattended.

I think the real miracle is not to walk either on water or in thin air, but to walk on earth. Every day we are engaged in a miracle which we don’t even recognize: a blue sky, white clouds, green leaves, the black, curious eyes of a child — our own two eyes. All is a miracle.

Darwin took this guide with him on The Beagle in order to better describe what he saw. There are a lot of analogies along these lines. “Go out on a limb, that’s where the fruit is!” The fruit that falls is ready and ripe – but it is ready and ripe before it falls. Sometimes a little shake is just what it needs to get it where it needs to be! Otherwise it might rot on the vine. “It is only when we realize that life is taking us nowhere that it begins to have meaning.”
— P.D. Ouspensky

“All major mystical traditions have recognized that there is a paradox at the heart of the journey of return to Origin. …Put simply, this is that we are already what we seek, and that what we are looking for on thePath with such an intensity of striving and passion and discipline is already within and around us at all moments. The journey and all its different ordeals are all emanations of the One Spirit that is manifesting everything in all dimensions; every rung ofthe ladder we climb toward final awareness is made of the divine stuff of awareness itself; Divine Consciousness is at once creating and manifesting all things and acting in and as all things in various states of self-disguise throughout all the differentlevels and dimensions of the universe.”

Challenge
“When people keep telling you that you can’t do a thing, you kind of like to try it.”

-Margaret Chase Smith, 1964

I guess this is a little like reverse psychology. When we are kids, if someone says “I dare you” it’s like a challenge that we can’t resist. Sometimes a challenge is just what we need to spur us on to what we really need to do for ourselves and our personal growth. Maybe it’s because we know someone is watching, that someone will notice. That’s just a part of being human. Whatever works!

Heathy Boundaries: Cat’s Angel Message for January 28, 2021

Heathy Boundaries: Cat’s Angel Message for January 28, 2021

January’s Theme: Stay focused on your desires and not your fears or past happenings. Our thoughts are ready to manifest into reality and by staying focused on what’s positive we lessen the power of the things that we fear.

____________________________

Creating healthy boundaries eliminates unwanted drama. ~Cat

_____________________________

128: Drama, it’s everywhere. Today the Universe is gently reminding us that when we get caught up everyday dramas we lose our focus and our momentum. Let yourself rise above these distractions and direct your energy into creating new opportunities, opening new doors or simple the things that bring you peace.. To take advantage of these blessings we must be willing to let go of old habits and thought patterns. Both of which can be centered around the dramas (direct and indirectly) taking place in our lives. Allow you inner wisdom to guide you as it will keep you from getting sidetracked. Remember to stay flexible because when one door opens another closes. This initiates and activates growth and opportunity. Remember, the angels will not do this for you and you must do your part to make things happen. The combination of thoughts, actions and energies will all play a major role in our overall success and the key is in creating boundaries and maintaining focus while keeping an optimistic outlook to make things flow.

Today’s Spirit Helpers include:

Archangel Raguel helps us when we are faced with standing our ground. He can show us the path to resolving disputes and arguments in a peaceful manner. He also acts as a motivational coach when we feel down on ourselves and he loves to help the underdog.

The Ascended Master, Saint Padre Pio, keeps us on the path of spiritual and personal growth. As we continue to grow so do our abilities like intuition, compassion, and seeing through the eyes of love. His energy is strong and optimistic which helps to boost our faith and confidence.

The Hindu Mother Goddess Durga teaches us how to create boundaries and maintain them as well as protecting yourself from the negative energy of others. She says: ” Personal boundaries are important to your well being. It is sometimes best to walk away. I can help you to step back and give you the self assurance to do what is in your best interest.”

Today’s Sacred Stones include:

Fire Agate. This stone allows you to embrace feelings of safety and trust as you navigate your path. It keeps us grounded and offers support when times get hard. This stone is also beneficial in returning the harmful and negative energy sent by others.

Chalcedony that brings mind, body, spirit and emotions into harmony by calming fear, anger or self doubt. It also promotes good feeling towards self and others.

Rose Quartz today to bring inner peace and harmony. The energy of this stone is very soothing and can help calm frazzled nerves. It helps to promotes the softer, move loving view that we need to embrace gratitude, it soothes and clears the emotions and fills us with loving compassion. It works with the heart chakra to gently wash away negative feelings that we harbor against ourselves and lifts the emotions to promote joy and peace. It opens our heart and shows us the love in relationships and situations, which helps us find a balancing point Use this gentle stone to shower yourself with loving care and to send healing to those little places that most need it.

January’s Full “Wolf” Moon
Thursday, January 28, 2021

11:16 am PST/ 12:16 pm MST/ 2:16 pm .m. EST

It’s January, the first month of the new year and on Thursday, January 28th we celebrate the Wolf Moon. The Native Americans named this moon the Wolf Moon because during the long dark nights the wolves were hungry and would often howl outside the lodges of the people. Other names for this full moon include the Cold Moon, Winter Moon (Colonial), Holiday Moon (China), Quiet Moon (Celtic), Ice Moon (neo Pagan), Disting Moon, Moon of Little Winetr and the Chaste Moon.

The January moon traditionally honored the Chinese deity Ch’ang-O, who was the goddess of the bedchamber and the protector of children. Other goddesses for January are Goddess for January include Freya, Inanna, Hera, Sinn and Sarasvati. To honor this moon try wearing colors of white, black and silver and adorning yourself with hematite, garnet, jet, onyx or chrysophase.

The Full Moon itself offers powerful energy for rituals of prophecy, divination and protection. Any spell-work that requires extra energy, such as finding a new job or healing serious conditions, is best begun during the full moon. Also for love, gaining sacred knowledge, legal matters, attracting money and prophetic dreams.

Blessings,

Cat

Thought For The Day: Jan. 27, 2021 “Filled With Wonder”

Happy Wednesday,

I admit that I am not a winter person. However, there is something about snow that brings out the inner child. Fat, fluffy flakes can make you smile and bring back memories of playing in that winter landscape. Small, simple things can bring the most joy. Look at the snow through the eyes of the child you once were and be filled with wonder!

Inner Journey: ALL IS MIND

“I want to know the thoughts of God; the rest are details.”

Everything — absolutely everything — that happens in our lives has a spiritual cause. Mental, emotional and physical events are only effects.

When we are struggling with any challenge, whether it be ill health, a lack of money, a lost job, relationships, an accident, whatever — we need to look for the spiritual learning. We can ask ourselves, “What quality does my soul want me to live more fully?”

Challenge
“Providence has hidden a charm in difficult undertakings, which is appreciated only by those who dare to grapple with them.”

-Anne-Sophie Swetchine, 1869

Ah! Doesn’t this explain it! When we accept a challenge, work through it to the other side, then we understand and appreciate the growth that comes as our reward. It’s easy to shrug off a challenge, to think that it’s too big of a risk, that it could be a waste of our time. But to tackle a challenge, to grapple with it, leads us to a place where we discover just what we are capable of, and that is beautiful.

Daily Tarot: The Fool

The day may be full of confusion but you don’t have to go through it naively and unaware of what’s happening around you. It’s not a good day to flirt with taking silly risks, some of which might turn out to be semi-dangerous or costly. You may be too hyper to want to play it safe, but at least make an effort to not be naïve or irresponsible.
