We all worry, it’s just human nature. On Friday we talked about time and how we often waste it on things we shouldn’t. Worry is one of those things. It’s a good thing to acknowledge the fears and concerns that cause us to worry. But it’s not a good thing to get stuck in them. I like to equate worry to a whirlpool because it’s easy to get sucked in and quite often hard to get out of. Remember that the things we worry about often work themselves out if we simply set them aside. Have faith in yourself and in your abilities to make things work out.

A common question that comes up is the matter of how to dispose of offerings made during a ritual once the ritual has concluded. Disposal methods may vary, depending on a few things. For instance, does your particular magical tradition require you to dispose of offerings in a certain way?

Car, Ode, and I had a lively discussion in our latest episode of 3 Pagans and a Cat regarding initiation. This includes self-initiation as a Solitary Witch or Pagan practitioner. Now, if a person wants to join a coven or group within a specific tradition or religious practice, then having the means to bring people together under oaths and rituals makes sense.

How willing are you to learn something new?
How open are you to new perspectives?
Only when we’re open can we really hear what’s being said or really see what’s happening or really experience the moment.
Openness demands that we be willing to move to places we’ve never been before. It asks us to continually challenge the foundations of our belief systems so we can test out new ideas. And to do that, we need to accept insecurity.

“I wanted no one lifting a finger in that garden unless he loved doing it. What if Fred had hired a man to dig those trenches and it had turned out that he didn’t love to dig? Who could eat that kind of asparagus?”
-Ruth Stout, 1955
We are so intricately connected and with each other that we can feel a person’s emotions. It’s the same way with the earth – we are just as connected with this planet, so why wouldn’t ‘it’ be able to feel our emotions as well? In the movie ‘Like Water for Chocolate’ there is a scene where a girl is broken-hearted. As she cooks, her tears fall into the stew, and when the family eats the stew, they start to cry. When we’re sick with a cold, the famous remedy is chicken soup – but what is the ‘magic’ ingredient that makes the soup so healing? The love that the cook puts in there! These are illustrations of how our emotions, or how our intent, can affect our environment, and the people in our lives. In a way, we are gardening all the time.

About Cat’s Morning Bits: These daily posts are reblogged from various email newsletters that I receive each day.
Time is something that most people never seem to have enough of, so our quote for today reminds us that we are in charge of HOW we spend and USE our time. Every day we spend time on things that we may not need to and we also use time as an excuse to NOT do things that we should be doing. Time is a precious thing and once it’s lost you can’t get it back. Use the time you have wisely!
Making changes and moving forward can be a little scary. We want to make things happen but may not know how to start. It all starts with that first step. Maybe that first step is the gathering of information or setting something in motion. The step doesn’t need to be big so baby steps will work just fine. What’s important is that you take that first step. You can do it!

Once a person of periodic deep depressions, a sign of mental suffering in my family that affected each sibling differently, I have matured into someone I never dreamed I would become: an unbridled optimist who sees the glass as always full of something. How deeply do you trust your own guidance?
Always trust that you know what’s best for you. To move forward in your life, gather information from the ‘experts,’ consider how their advice relates to your situation and then act only on what feels right for you. What does your whole being (mind, body and soul) say ‘Yes!’ to?
You are the only expert for your own life.

“All gardeners live in beautiful places because they make them so.”
-Joseph Joubert (1754-1824)
This I’m looking at “gardening” in the bigger sense of the word. There’s a reason why we understand the philosophy: ‘You reap what you sow’ – in gardening nothing is more true! When we plant radishes, we can’t expect gardenias to spring up. This life is our garden, and we can tend to it, and make it a beautiful place to be.
Restlessness and boredom could slow you down and take you off on some unintended tangent. If you can’t break free of the usual routine today, do what’s necessary and perhaps schedule more delicate tasks for another time when it will be easier to be precise and attend to details. Know your own limits and if possible don’t take on something that will only frustrate you. If you must, start slow.

Whenever you remember, TAKE YOURSELF OFF AUTO-PILOT and really examine your situation. Take charge and make a choice that will enrich your experience. At the end of the day, reflect on what happened and how you felt when you chose a new line of thought, feeling or action.
