Thought for the Day: July 21, 2017 “Just Let It Go”

Well we have finally made it to Friday and the weekend. It’s time to let go of the upsets and annoyances, ground, center and clear. With the new moon coming up on Sunday (5:46 am EST) it’s the perfect time for a little self care before the new cycle starts. Do what you need to do to get yourself back into balance and harmony. Remember… you are a wonderful, amazing being who is worthy of all the blessings the universe has to offer!

Thought for the Day: July 20, 2017 “Make Today Count”

Happy Thursday! I for one will be glad to see the end of this mentally exhausting week. How about you?  Okay………….. so here is our thought for the day….

Life is short. This is something that we see the truth of as we get older. We spend a lot of time “making our mark” and less time making our days count. We are so busy forcing things to happen that when we look back we see how much time we could have spent better, making better choices, better relationships a more fulfilling life. Every day is precious so make the most of what you have. At the end of the day it’s not about how much money or how many things you have it’s about how well you lived your life.

Thought for the Day: July 19, 2017 “Taking it Personally”

Happy Wednesday, we’ve made it to Hump Day!

Some people take everything personally. (I use to be this way myself and sometimes it still happens. )  The truth is that people will always ask questions (that’s human nature) and most will never understand you or the things that you do. The other truth is that out of those people most of them are not asking out of malice, they just simply don’t understand because it’s not something they would say or do. It’s nothing personal against you,  it’s just them not understanding. And that’s okay because most things are not worth getting upset over. My dad used to tell me that I needed to get thicker skin so that I didn’t take everything personally. I don’t think it’s so much that as it is  realizing that what most people think really doesn’t matter. If you are happy with yourself that’s all that matters.

Thought for the Day: July 18, 2017 “Just Breathe”

Happy Tuesday!

Everyday things happen, some are good and some are bad. We can become frustrated, angry or upset and these emotions change the way we think. We are a little less rational, calm or focused. Have you noticed that the bad things seem to stay with us and affect us longer than the good? I have always wondered why that is (if you know I’d love to hear it!) The best way to get back on track is take a moment to center and just breathe. As you take some deep calming breaths, remind yourself that everything will be okay, Embrace calming energy and restore focus and peace.

Mau Bast

My time has come, as evening settles her blue shadowed veils around the temple. The scents and sounds of the coming night drift on the warm night air.

The smell of myrrh mixes with the black earth scent of the Nile. The distant sounds of voices and the calling of night birds and frogs from the lotus pond are a soothing hum.

I rise and stretch in the fading light. Muscles sleek and sinuous, eyes glowing amber fire. I enter the temple hall where servants are lighting the rush lights, they bow as I silently pad past.

From the temple there are voices raised in song and the rattle of sistrums, a tribute to the living goddess. I consider joining them but the night beckons, like a seductive lover I cannot resist.

As I emerge into the dusk world I am greeted by the small wild-cats that are my children and the scent of lotus flowers. Together we fade into the cloak of night. It is my time

The Definitions of Popular Egyptian Symbols
By John Mackata

Most of the Egyptian symbols are depicted in hieroglyphs as the ‘words of God’ and were commonly used by priests. Some have appeared in novels and films due to the mysteries they are associated with. The most common symbols as seen on the Egyptian hieroglyphic include the eye of Horus, Bast, Crescent Moon, the Lotus Flower, Feather of Maat and the falcon. These are commonly used in religions as well as in magical rituals.

The Ankh
This is an Egyptian character that stands for ‘life’. In the ancient days, only the Kings, Pharaohs and the Gods were allowed to posses them. It was believed that the person who possessed them had the power to giving life. It was commonly used to represent air and water and was commonly held to a patient’s lips to give breath. The design also invokes the sun rising with the combination of the cross and the circle.

Bast (the Cat Goddess)
This is a representation of the daughter of Ra who was known as the cat headed Goddess. Bast was associated with both childbirth and fertility and known also as the goddess of joy, dancing and music. She was believed to have been connected with the moon and the possessor of Oudjat (the eye of her twin brother known as Horus). She was the personification of the soul of Isis according to a myth and also known as the ‘Lady of the East’. To receive her blessings of music, love and dancing, figures of cats were offered to Bast.

The Crescent Moon
This is known to be symbol especially for the children and the mothers. It was used as the symbol of Isis in the ancient Egypt. Being the queen of Egypt, Isis was known as the protector of women, motherhood and the sick healer. She was also believed to rule magic.

The Eye of Horus
This is one of the most popular Egyptian symbols which designed to resemble a falcon’s eye. Horus was a falcon headed god and the son of Isis and Osiris. He was generally associated with health, vitality and regeneration. The right eye was white and means to represent the sun. The left eye was black and was believed to represent the moon. According to some myth, it is believed that Seth, the brother to Horus, killed Osiris and the two had a fight to the extent that Horus lost the left eye. Thoth used his magic to restore the eye.

The Falcon
In the Egyptian symbols, the Falcon was associated with Horus, the god of solar. He was believed to appear as the Pharaoh’s falcon or as the ‘Falcon headed go’. It was believed that he had the capability of seeing everything at once due to his right eye being the sun and the left one the moon. In the representation, the Falcon is seen wearing double crown.

Thought for the Day: July 14, 2017 “The Cure”

It’s finally Friday! 🙂

We have a little Irish wisdom for today. These two things, laughter and sleep,  can cure just about anything. They act as a reset button for both mind and body and give us a fresh outlook. Look for the humor today, sometimes just laughing at ourselves can get us through a hard day!

Thought for the Day: July 13, 2017 “Step Into Confidence”

Happy Thursday!

Our thought for the day is about self confidence. Self confidence is what enables us to move through life with purpose and do things. For some this confidence comes easy and for others… well… not so much. I fall into the “not so much” catagory (those who know me will probably not believe that) as so many of  us do. I was faced with this just the other day in dance class. A new floor pattern that my brain didn’t grasp because it was confusing to me. My first thought, “I don’t get it”  = “It’s weird and I can’t do it”. Now my brain actually knows better than that but that’s it’s first response because I’m afraid that I’ll screw it up and people will think less of me.  For some people this might mean that they just wouldn’t do it or even try. But  for me it means that I have to work it through in my mind so that I can make it happen. I guess my point is that what ever steps you take to activate your self confidence and do something different is the right way. What matters most taking the steps. That’s how it starts, and each time it gets a little easier! We totally have this!

Thought for the Day: July 12, 2017 “This is my life”

Happy Wednesday, we’ve made it to the middle of another week!

Our thought for today is about living your own life. If you think about it we spend a lot of time trying to (A) make others happy and  (B) doing things the way others want us to do them. But the reality is that each person is responsible for their own happiness and their own lives. Our lives are a work in progress or a story if you like. We create new characters, sidelines, plots and twists and turns AND we edit, edit, edit until we get it just right. I just love adventure stories…. don’t you?

Thought for the Day: July 11, 2017 “Careful Words”

Happy Tuesday, I hope your week is going well so far! We are starting the day with a “brief” rain shower…. and I mean brief… but hey the cat came in wet so I guess the lawn got wet too. 🙂

Our thought today is about the power of the spoken word. The simple truth is that words wield great power. They can bring joy, peace and comfort, but they are also capable of causing great harm if carelessly thrown out there. The Dali Lama says “always be kind” and this is good advice whether it’s deed or word. Think before you speak and speak with kindness. The goal is to lift others up not knock them to the ground.
