A Bountiful Moment

The answers to your questions, dreams, desires are around you everywhere you just need to be aware.

Daily Thought: It is easy to feel like you don’t have the answers or become overwhelmed at a situation that is new. But the answer to what is creating the anxiety is there right in front of you. All you have to do is sit still for a moment and listen. Quieting your mind and being open to the answers that surround you is the challenge not the situation you are facing.

Daily Practice: When you are faced with a challenge today look at it clearly by quieting your mind and looking past what is creating the fear. Take a deep breathe in and slowly release it two to three times. Now relook at the situation and act on the solution that enters your mind. Move through the situation by acting not thinking.

Have a Great Day and Believe in Yourself!

Patheos-Pagan: Paganism as an Orientation

Back at the end of February I came across this excellent piece by Heron Michelle titled Witchery as an Orientation and Sacred Mission. It’s her story of how being a witch isn’t a choice for her – it’s part of who and what she is. The essay is worth your time to read in its entirety – here’s a key quote:

Witchery isn’t a choice for me. There is a being-ness to witchery, the aptitude for deeply, broadly sensing a far greater “normal” than others … Those with an orientation of witchery, naturally glide past the veil of illusion as our second-nature. This tends to become isolating, as muggle-society pushes us to the fringes, and calls us “crazy.”

Inner Journey: Open to Awareness

“Mindfulness means moment-to-moment, non-judgmental awareness. It is cultivated by refining our capacity to pay attention, intentionally, in the present moment, and then sustaining that attention over time as best we can. In the process, we become more in touch with our life as it is unfolding.”
— Myla & Jon Kabat-Zinn

Why do we want to become more aware?

If we remain unaware, we:
•repeat the past,
•remain stuck in relationships,
•live superficial, literal and one dimensional lives,
•lack experiences of love and beauty, and
•have limited connection to others and the universe.

With awareness, we are fully involved with life. Awareness is sensing deeply and sensitively for what really is. To do this, we need to approach the present as totally new. When we can be open and attentive in each moment, we begin to free ourselves from the conditioning of the past and the suffering that it so often brings.

“If moment by moment you can keep your mind clear then nothing will confuse you.”

A Bountiful Moment

Always be yourself because the people that matter don’t mind, and the ones who mind, don’t matter. Dr, Seuss

Daily Thought: Never be afraid to act upon your wildest dreams and desires. Live loud and proud! Being who you are takes courage so always remember that the people who are most important will never be unkind in their judgement of what you are thinking. The individuals who offer support, encouragement and a perspective of “you can but be on the lookout for” are the only individuals who should be a factor in what you do and what you are planning to act on.

Daily Practice: Take an objective look at your current relationships. Who are they with and how are they serving you? If they are critical and make you question yourself in a negative way they are most likely a relationship that needs boundaries. If they are relationships that are honest and allow you to be who you are without judgement take the opportunity to develop them and use them as a sounding board for your growth.

Inner Journey: Going for guilt-free play

“There is no pleasure in having nothing to do. The fun is in having lots to do and not doing it.”
— Mary Little

When you’re tempted with a promise of pleasure, does guilt promptly spoil it for you?

For many of us, the work ethic still rules supreme. It keeps our life out of balance and our health at risk. There will always be lots of work to do. We can’t wait for it to go away to enjoy ourselves.

Today, we invite you to become aware of your attitude towards rest, relaxation, pleasure and fun. When you give yourself a break, do you carry guilt through it? Deep down, do you believe that you don’t deserve to have a good time, that you haven’t earned a holiday? If you do discover these thoughts, send them packing.

Mind Body Green: 5 Quick Ways To Finally Put An End To Impostor Syndrome

Often when I sit down at my desk to prepare for a big interview, write an outline for a speaking engagement, or work on a new article, whispers of self-doubt swirl through my mind.

Spirituality & Health: 5 ways To Declutter Your Social Life

We declutter our drawers, our cars and our closets. How often do we tidy up our social lives? They probably aren’t terribly streamlined, as pruning them sounds so  severe. It’s okay to take stock. Consider the research of esteemed anthropologist Robin Dunbar, who studies the evolutionary structure of social networks in primates. He’s found there’s a ceiling to just how many meaningful relationships at a time we can have, and it’s based on brain size. For humans, it tops out at 150 about the size of a small village. More than that, it’s simply too hard to maintain. Let’s look at the idea of streamlining your friendships.

A Bountiful Moment:

Instead of saying “I can’t”  ask yourself  “what can I do” to create the solution.

Daily Thought: Stop repeating I can’t and starting thinking what am I doing or what can I do to change what is creating the current stress or difficult situation. Every day place your focus on the solution to direct tomorrows living. The solution will allow you to maintain control over your life and your future.

Daily Practice: Pay attention today to the times you tell yourself you cannot do something. Why are you telling yourself that? Note what is happening and why you feel like you have no power over what is occurring. Then take a deep breathe and think of every possible solution to change what you cant do. Do not dismiss anything, every thought counts until you find one that works. Apply the possible and be in control.

Inner Journey: Hope and Disappointment

“It’s precisely the disappointing stories, which have no proper ending and therefore no proper meaning, that sound true to life.”
— Max Frisch

“Don’t get your hopes up!”

Were you warned of this as a child? What does this say? It says that life is bound to disappoint you. It says, don’t aim high because you’re not likely to get what you want. It says that we can’t expect good things to happen to us.

As our thinking creates our reality, this kind of thinking dooms us to a mundane existence. It’s time to change our stories. Why not focus the immense power of our hearts and minds on bringing to fruition the very best life has to offer? Allow yourself to hope and believe in all possibilities.

“Hope is the companion of power, and the mother of success; for who so hopes has within him the gift of miracles.”
— Samuel Smiles

“The very least you can do in your life is to figure out what you hope for. And the most you can do is live inside that hope. Not admire it from a distance but live right in it, under its roof.”

There are two reasons why I’ve made these scrumptious tangerine lime bars. First off, I love tangerine and lime flavours so much, I think they need to be stars of more foods. Secondly, my tangerine and lime trees really outdid my lemon tree this year, so when I went to pick fruit in my garden, this was the best idea for a sweet treat! The load of tomorrow, added to the load of yesterday, carried today can make any person falter….Live for today!

Daily Thought:  If you think about what happened yesterday, or what is supposed to happen tomorrow you will lose time and the moments you should be living today. Inner Journey: Value Just Being

“To do great work a man must be very idle as well as very industrious.”
— Samuel Butler

Many of us have been taught to believe that we are valued for what we do, not just for who we are. ‘Doing’ is important, but to keep life in balance, we also need time to just ‘be.’

Henry David Thoreau expressed this so well in Walden Pond:

“There were times when I could not afford to sacrifice the bloom of the present moment to any work, whether of the head or hand.

“Sometimes, on a summer morning, I sat in my sunny doorway from sunrise till noon, rapt in a revery, amidst the pines and hickories and sumacs, in undisturbed solitude and stillness, while the birds sang around or flitted noiseless through the house, until by the sun falling in at my west window, or the noise of some traveller’s wagon on the distant highway, I was reminded of the lapse of time.

“I grew in those seasons like corn in the night, and they were far better than any work of the hands would have been.”

One of the most popular pastimes in the United States is bird-watching. The way millions of Americans participate is by placing a feeder in the backyard and waiting for the various species to arrive. While this has a few upsides — including being easy and creating a stationary place to watch the activity — backyard bird feeders also have downsides, including attracting unwanted critters from raccoons to coyotes to bears, to providing a small range of food to a small group of birds, with much of it getting wasted when it’s left scattered on the ground.  Read more………………

“The capacity for delight is the gift of paying attention.”
— Julie Cameron

How aware are you of:
– your senses?
– your body — its condition, needs and wisdom?
– your fears?
– your defences – how you hide what youre really feeling?
– your self talk?
– your beliefs and their power to create your reality?
– your passions?
– your purpose?

Go on a treasure hunt to discover your authentic self and the truth of life in and around you!

“Relative to the level of awareness that is possible for us, our ordinary state of consciousness is as far from a direct experience of reality as sleep is from waking consciousness.”

Love

“Love is a fire and I am wood.”  -Rumi

Love has been the subject for poets throughout the ages. In contemporary times, think of how many songs we hear that are all about love! According to the lyrics, “Love is all there is,” and “Love can move mountains.” Love brings us to the movies, where we can see love acted out larger than life and feel our emotions stir. We are drawn to love because that is what we all crave more of. And we crave love because that is what we are made of! Love brings us to our true nature. We are consumed by it because we want to know who we really are, and love allows us to experience that.

A Bountiful Moment:

Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.

Patheos-Pagan: How I Found Paganism; From a Kitchen Witch

The question posed was how did you find paganism?
Well I guess to be honest it found meand it was witchcraft in particular.

Being born on Samhain,  yep honestly my date of birth is 31st October, I grew up with a little bit of a witchy vibe.

Family and friends would actually buy me little witch things for my birthday as a bit of a Halloween joke. Although as I grew up Halloween in the UK wasn’t what it is now, there was no trick or treating or even decorating and pumpkins where I lived

REMOVE THE FILTERS

“You got to look at things with the eye in your heart, not with the eye in your head.”
— Lame Deer, Medicine Man of the Oglala people

Whenever we’re thinking, our experience is being filtered through our minds. For example, when I say to myself, “What a beautiful sunset!” I am not fully experiencing the sunset because I am involved with the words in my mind.

Explore letting go of the thoughts, the words, and connecting directly with your experiences. Tune in to the silence and the sensations in your body. Be aware of the spaciousness this brings because this is truly living in the present moment.

Being present doesn’t mean that we have to abandon thinking entirely. That’s not feasible, of course. But we can experiment with what it’s like to stop thinking once in a while!

“Only in quiet waters things mirror themselves undistorted. Only in a quiet mind is adequate perception of the world.”
— Hans Margolius

A Note from the Universe

Tell me what advice would you give a child who came to you asking what their favorite color should be?

To follow their heart? That no color is right or wrong? That if they wanted to, they could always change their mind later, any number of times? That their happiness with their choice is all that matters? Not to give it too much importance? That they don’t have to decide at all? That you approve no matter what they choose?

Now, what if they protested because they had heard from friends that there was a special color assigned to them at birth; their soul-color. They felt that a numerology reading might shed some light on their confusion. They wanted confirmation of their choices through a zodiac chart, tea leaves, and a Ouija board. And they asked if hiring a coach, therapist, or guru would be a good idea.

Yep, this is what I hear every day, just not so much for colors…

Sorry to lay this on you. I’m just fishing around for some new answers to the bazillion questions I get each week about careers, loves, and destinies – which to me, from here, are kind of like… crayons.

Ewhhhh, nice magenta!

Intelligence

“I not only use all the brains I have, but all I can borrow.” -Woodrow Wilson

We don’t need to know everything. Isn’t that great? What a burden it would be to carry around all that information constantly. And yet everything we could ever need, or want, to know is available to us at any time. All we have to do is ask! We are here to help each other, we are our own greatest resource.
