“Perhaps the most famous icon of the holiday is the jack-o-lantern. Various authorities attribute it to either Scottish or Irish origin. However, it seems clear that it was used as a lantern by people who traveled the road this night, the scary face to frighten away spirits or faeries who might otherwise lead one astray. Set on porches and in windows, they cast the same spell of protection over the household. (The American pumpkin seems to have forever superseded the European gourd as the jack-o-lantern of choice.) Bobbing for apples may well represent the remnants of a Pagan ‘baptism’ rite called a ‘seining’, according to some writers. The water-filled tub is a latter-day Cauldron of Regeneration, into which the novice’s head is immersed. The fact that the participant in this folk game was usually blindfolded with hands tied behind the back also puts one in mind of a traditional Craft initiation ceremony.”

Irish Central: Ancient Irish myths that invoke the spirit of Samhain

Ancient Irish myths and legends will get you in the Halloween and Samhain spirit.
Samhain is the ancient Irish festival that became Halloween as we know it and its because of these Irish roots that we have plenty of Halloween-worthy Irish legends and myths.
The Celts believed the year was divided into two parts, the lighter half in the summer and the darker half in the winter.

In most modern Pagan traditions, plants and their folklore are an integral part of belief and practice. In particular, many of the Sabbats are associated with the magical properties of different plants. Let’s take a look at Samhain, the witches’ new year, and seven plants that often correspond with the season.

EarthSky News: Moon goes by Jupiter on Halloween

On October 30 and 31, 2019, watch for two brilliant luminaries – the crescent moon and the dazzling planet Jupiter – to pop out in close vicinity of one another as dusk deepens into nightfall. Given clear skies, you should have no trouble seeing either world, because the moon and Jupiter rank as the 2nd-brightest and 4th-brightest celestial luminaries, respectively. By early November, a larger crescent moon will leave king planet Jupiter behind to join up with the ringed planet Saturn.

Inner Journey:

REVIEW AND RECOMMIT

“Few people have any next, they live from hand to mouth without a plan, and are always at the end of their line.”
— Ralph Waldo Emerson

Just think: When we are driving, we know where we want to go and we plot out our route. When we plan and prepare a meal, we follow a recipe and monitor the food as it cooks.

How much attention do we give to planning the direction of our lives?

Taking the time to review our quality of life gives us a chance to re-evaluate what we are doing and where we want to go. It lets us fine-tune our direction, to ensure we are on track for what we most want.

Stop and think about your last 6 months. What did you learn? What would you like to do differently? Where do you want to recommit?

“Organizing is what you do before you do something, so that when you do it, it is not all mixed up.”
— A. A. Milne

“Always have a plan, and believe in it. Nothing happens by accident.”

Vision

“Visionary people are visionary partly because of the very great many things they don’t see.”

Berkeley Rice

Isn’t this so true! Visionary people don’t seem to see obstacles – or at least, they don’t see them as obstacles, maybe just as challenges. I’ve heard so many successful business people say that when going in, they didn’t even know what could go wrong. They were so focused on looking at their vision that all the obstacles were a blur. They were so committed to following through with their vision that they couldn’t even imagine anything stopping them. And they turned something that vision into a reality.

Good Endings: Cat’s Angel Message for October 31, 2019

October’s Theme: Divine guidance and messages.  These messages are important for us personally, emotionally and spiritually so work on staying open to the information that you receive.

Good Endings precede Good Beginnings. – Jonathan Lockwood Huie

1031:  We close out the month of October by working with the Ascended Masters.  Aside from offering us assistance one of their goals is to help us focus on truth, both divine and personal, which helps keep us centered on our path and headed in the right direction. Like the angels, you can call upon them any time. If you are feeling down or confused they can show you how to shift your thoughts into the optimistic and lighter side. Their peaceful and loving energy will help ease your mind and help you see things in a different light. Today they are asking us to close out the month by tying up any loose ends so that we can enter the new cycle at peace with ourselves!

The Ascended Master Serapis Bey helps us to release our troubles and offers clear guidance and motivation regarding our own self improvement. He also helps us gain spiritual insight and teaches us that loving care is essential to navigating change.

The Ascended Master Buddha helps us to find our “Attitude of Gratitude”.By acknowledging what we have to be grateful for we are filled with joy and inner peace which encourages positive flow. He also reminds us of the important balance between giving and receiving. When we are balanced we find the patience and inner peace we need to go with the flow and can help us embrace the “Tiny Miracles” in our lives as well.

The Hindu Goddess White Tara says: “Come and sit beside me. I will help ease the worry in your heart and teach you how to replace it with gratitude and joy. This is where faith dwells and we must only open the doors and invite it forward.”

Our Sacred Stones for today include:

Moldavite which elevates our consciousness and helps us to connect directly to the Ascended Masters.

Selenite is a great meditation stone. It opens the crown chakra to help us receive universal guidance as it calms the emotions and promotes inner peace.

Celestite which promotes spiritual development and teaches us to reach for personal enlightenment and helps us to find peace within. It also helps us to embrace new experiences while blending instinct and intellect to create balance and harmony while providing strength and calm.

In 1976 it was gifted to the National Arboretum in Washington, D.C. where it remains as a symbol of the merger of lives, forests, and the human family. { read more }

PONDER THE RULES

“To do exactly as your neighbors do is the only sensible rule.”

Do you have strong and clear definitions for what is acceptable and what is not?

Where have these rules come from? What’s the purpose of these judgments? What do they protect?

Can we explore new territory for ourselves and others by allowing and even welcoming spontaneity, exuberance and surprises?

Vision

“Visions are like dreams, only they occur in the waking state.”

-Carl G. Jung (1875-1961)

Are we awake? Are we thinking clearly? Are we seeing clearly? When we can answer these questions affirmatively and have a vision that has caught our attention, we need to do something about it. There’s a reason why certain visions come to us at certain times in our lives. And there’s a reason why certain visions come to certain people and not others. It doesn’t matter where this vision comes from, once we have it, it is ours. And it is up to us to act on it, to do what we can to make this world a better place.

High Counsel: Cat’s Angel Message for October 30, 2019

High Counsel: Cat’s Angel Message for October 30, 2019

October’s Theme: Divine guidance and messages.  These messages are important for us personally, emotionally and spiritually so work on staying open to the information that you receive.

It was high counsel that I once heard given to a young person, “Always do what you are afraid to do.” – Ralph Waldo Emerson

1030:  It’s good to have friends in high places, natural places, and even earth, air, fire and water places. No matter what we need, whether its help, healing, peace, etc., all we need to do is ask. As we get ready to close out the month of October we are being reminded of divine guidance and messages. Sometimes we shut our receptors down out of fear, anger or stress. The messages keep coming but they just pile up in the inbox and remain unopened. During these times it’s more important than ever to keep yourself open. Take some time today to ground-center-clear. Open your connection to the Universe. Ask for what you need or simply give thanks for the blessings you have received in this cycle. This will help you to get a step up in November. Remember, your requests are always heard and inner peace is yours for the taking.

Archangel Sandalphon makes sure that our prayers get to the angel or master best able to handle our requests. Ask him to help you clearly understand the information that you receive (his favorite mode of communication is music!).

The Ascended Master Yogananda teaches us how to open the channels of divine communication and promotes feelings of divine love. He can offer assistance in all things including your spiritual path.

The Inuit Goddess Sedna helps us develop our intuition through the Dreamtime, you can connect with her in or around water. (bath or shower works) “Look to your dreams to guide you. They will show you things you missed while your mind was busy and active”

Our Sacred Stones for today include:

Celestite which promotes spiritual development and teaches us to reach for personal enlightenment and helps us to find peace within. It also helps us to embrace new experiences while blending instinct and intellect to create balance and harmony while providing strength and calm.

Purple Fluorite helps strengthen our intuitive powers as it draws away negative energy and bring the rational mind forward.

Kyanite is a spiritual stone that helps us to connect to our guides by opening the paths of communication. It also allows us to speak from the heart and to speak our truth as it cuts through the things that are keeping us from moving forward.

Bright blessings for a magickal day!

Thought For The Day: Oct. 30, 2019 “Making Peace With Anger”

Happy Wednesday,

Holding on to our anger can be harmful. It can cause health problems like stress, anxiety, and depression.  Holding on to our anger makes us miserable people and is the face that we show the world. We hear all too often the phrase “Just Let It Go”. Sometimes it is possible to do this and other times not so much because there ARE things that cannot be forgiven. The key lies in our ability to come to an understanding with ourselves and make peace with our anger for our own sake. It will make for a happier, healthier you!

Vision

“The idea is to seek a vision that gives you purpose in life and then to implement that vision. The vision by itself is one half, one part, of a process. It implies the necessity of living that vision, otherwise the vision will sink back into itself.”

-Lewis P. Johnson, 1987

I think we all have lots of visions throughout our lives. Some we shrug off, we’re not attached to. Others seem to come to us easily. And then there are those that give us a purpose in life. Those are the ones that are important. Those are the ones that push us to learn and grow. We can’t just let those visions go, we have to do something about them. Those are the visions that are life-changing, world-changing!

Understanding Ourselves: Cat’s Angel Message for October 29, 2019

daily Angel Message sms

Understanding Ourselves: Cat’s Angel Message for October 29, 2019

October’s Theme: Divine guidance and messages.  These messages are important for us personally, emotionally and spiritually so work on staying open to the information that you receive.

Not until we are lost do we begin to understand ourselves. – Henry David Thoreau

1029:  Universal abundance comes in many forms and from many different sources. Sometimes we can see them happening right away while other times we wonder if our requests have even been heard. Our keywords for today are “Patience” and “Faith”. If you feel that you have lost something or something is missing remember that the Universe supplies us with everything we need to live richer and more fulfilling lives. Remember that behind the scenes the cosmic wheels are turning and things are falling into place. So be patient and have faith that things ARE materializing. Stay strong and focused. Let go of doubt and open yourself to living in the now. New adventures are on the horizon and you will want to be ready when they arrive!

Archangel Michael helps to calm our fears as he guides us through issues of self doubt by clearing our energy field and quieting the internal chatter so that we can access the guidance being sent to us. He helps us to find our courage and our direction while giving us the strength that we need to choose wisely and make decisions on our own. Michael’s energy is easily felt particularly during times of stress and confusion and helps us when we feel lost or overwhelmed. He sets us on the path of commitment to our purpose by showing us how to work through obstacles that pop up as he teaches us that we have what it takes to create new things for ourselves as he helps us reach new levels of self confidence.

The Ascended Master Maitreya (Laughing Buddha) helps us to find peace and harmony through laughter, this gives us a clear perspective and keeps our energy flowing. He tells us that laughter is sacred and when the heart is alive with joy we are connected to the Infinite and filled with Nirvana-essence. Center your mind with the intent of enjoying yourself and you will find yourself centered in the moment. Enjoy what life has to offer and enjoy the process!

The Hindu Goddess Kali is a dark mother and goddess of death. Each time we let go of something that no longer serves us we are in truth embracing a “little death” and fear often accompanies the letting go process. One of Kali’s greatest lessons is through our worst fears lies the freedom we gain in conquering them. She says: “Dreams must be created with focus and intent. I will help you to embrace the courage and motivation that you need to see things through to a successful conclusion.”

Our Sacred Stones for today include:

Hematite has a strong connection to the earth element and it helps us stay grounded while it promotes feelings of safety. Hematite also brings mental clarity through focus and concentration which is essential to the letting go process which accompanies change.

Mookite, a form of Jasper that comes in many creamy color combinations, promotes decision making and versatility. These things are important when we are faced with new experiences and find ourselves faced with the need to take action. It encourages us to be flexible during times of change and helps us to embrace new experiences with an open sense of adventure.

Larimar helps us to see the things that we have to be grateful for and the tiny miracles that we take for granted. This sky blue stone also helps to ease our obsession for material things and shows us how to put things into perspective so that you manifest what you really need. Thought For The Day: Oct. 29, 2019 “Just Another Step”

Happy Tuesday,

Some days it feels like everything is against us, and no matter what we do we just can’t seem to move forward. The truth is that yes sometimes life throws obstacles in our way and sometimes we allow these things to stop our momentum altogether. Remember, you always have a choice so find yourself a stepping stone (no matter how small) and take another step. Keep growing, keep creating and above all keep moving!

Thought For The Day: Oct. 28, 2019 “Making Magick”

Happy Monday,

Just a reminder today that the world is a magickal place. However, we are each responsible for creating our own magickal happenings. We do this by holding positive vibes and seeing life through the eyes of love and gratitude. Throw in a pinch of childlike wonder and top it off with a little adventure! Wands ready!
