Currently, the crackling sunspot is slightly hidden on the eastern limb of the sun, however solar rotation will reveal its activity over the next couple of days, so we will have a clearer view of any stronger explosions.

DISCOVER THE TREASURES INSIDE

“Happiness cannot be traveled to, owned, earned, worn or consumed. Happiness is the spiritual experience of living every minute with love, grace, and gratitude.”
— Denis Waitley

Peace, joy, health and well-being can only be found inside us. They exist within us now, waiting to be discovered. Yet we tend to look to the outside world to satisfy our needs and longings.

Our outer life reflects back to us the way we think, feel and behave. The outer world is all effects. Go to the source inside for all of life’s treasures.

How are you searching for peace and contentment outside of yourself?

“The great Western disease is, ‘I’ll be happy when… When I get the money. When I get a BMW. When I get this job.’ Well, the reality is, you never get to when. The only way to find happiness is to understand that happiness is not out there. It’s in here. And happiness is not next week. It’s now.”

Thought For The Day: May 25, 2018 “Making the Right Choice”

Happy Friday,

Happiness is a choice. Since we are faced with choices everyday, what to wear, where to have lunch, who to spend time with or talk to, so why wouldn’t we choose to be happy? There will always be annoyances and drama that surround us, this happens to everyone. The point is that we shouldn’t let negative things rule our entire day. Choose to be happy and refuse to give your power to negatives.

Inner Journey:

PERFECTIONISM

“We have the need to be accepted and to be loved by others, but we cannot accept and love ourselves. The more self-love we have, the less we will experience self-abuse. Self-abuse comes from self-rejection, and self-rejection comes from having an image of what it means to be perfect and never measuring up to that ideal. Our image of perfection is the reason we reject ourselves the way we are, and why we don’t accept others the way they are.”
— Don Miguel Ruiz

“The maxim ‘Nothing but perfection’ may be spelled ‘Paralysis.'”
— Winston Churchill

“After enough mirror gazing, we all develop our ‘cosmic sense of humor.’ We no longer try to be perfect, or try to get all our work done in time. We become content with whatever life brings. Just to deal with what comes up without crucifying ourselves or others is enough of a challenge.”
— Paul Ferrini

Freedom

“To have freedom is only to have that which is absolutely necessary to enable us to be what we ought to be.” -Ibn Rahel (Medieval Christian chronicler, lived in Egypt)
One of my children’s songs has a line in it that says: “You gotta be you and you gotta do what you love to do.” That’s freedom. Freedom lets us be ourselves. We often take freedom for granted – it feels so natural to us. But we need to recognize it every once in awhile, and celebrate it.

Thought For The Day: May 24, 2018 “Your Word”

Happy Thursday,

When we give someone our word and commit to something its up to us to make sure it happens. We have all been on the receiving end of a broken promise or commitment. When it happens we feel let down, at loose ends or even betrayed. Everyone makes promises but not everyone keeps them. My father use to say “A man is only as good as his word”. By keeping our word it shows our personal integrity and true character. It tells other people that we are worthy of the trust they put in us and that we truly value them. If you can’t commit to something, for whatever reason, don’t. Be honest because people will appreciate that more than a broken commitment.

Patheos-Pagan: Searing Sun, the Hurricane’s Howl: What Can We Do About Climate Change?

When we think of the Divine in Nature, we think of nature’s beauty – the green earth and the white moon among the stars – but nature can be frightening as well as beautiful. Our ancestors venerated nature because they feared as well as loved it, because they knew they were totally dependent on something more powerful than themselves. In contemporary Pagan rituals, we domesticate the elements.

Inner Journey:

TIME TO CHANGE DIRECTION?

“Employ the power of positive quitting. Most of us view quitting as something negative, but it’s not. ‘Winners never quit,’ we’re told, when, in reality, winners quit all the time: choosing to stop doing things that aren’t creating the results they desire. When you quit all the things that aren’t working for you, when you quit tolerating all the negative things that hold you back, you’ll create a positive ‘charge’ in your life as well as create the space in your life for more positive experiences.”
— Jim Allen

“I like thinking of possibilities. At any time, an entirely new possibility is liable to come along and spin you off in an entirely new direction. The trick, I’ve learned, is to be awake to the moment.”
— Doug Hall

“Persons and societies do not submit passively to surroundings and events. They make choices as to the places where they live and the activities in which they engage — choices based on what they want to be, to do and to become. Furthermore, persons and societies often change their goals and ways; they can even retrace their steps and start in a new direction if they believe they are on a wrong course. Thus, whereas animal life is prisoner of biological evolution which is essentially irreversible, human life has the wonderful freedom of social evolution which is rapidly reversible and creative. Wherever human beings are concerned, trend is not destiny.”

Freedom

“I believe in freedom – social, economical, domestic, political, mental and spiritual.” -Elbert Hubbard

Freedom is all-encompassing; you can’t have one “kind” of freedom without all the others. I remember Deepak Chopra talking about the 25 qualities of the Unified Field. Scientists have studied this Field, which could also be called “all of nature,” and identified 25 qualities that it has. Because we are one with this Field, these are qualities inherent in each of us, too. Number 24 on the list: Freedom.

A Note from the Universe

What if the coolest person on the planet didn’t know they were the coolest person on the planet, because of a few self-doubts, a few trace fears, or the occasional twang of inadequacy. Or because they somehow thought fame, or wealth, or popularity mattered. Or because they just didn’t know the effect they had on others.

It would be a pity, huh? A real travesty. And, of course, telling them wouldn’t achieve much because they’d never believe you. Never. They’d be too modest to accept it. Too naïve to see it. And, well, too cool to think it mattered.

Freedom

“That is the truly beautiful and encouraging aspect of freedom; no one struggles for it just for himself.”-Fanny Lewald, in Hanna Ballin Lewis, “The Education of Fanny Lewald” (1871)

If there is a lesson in our struggle for freedom, (and there always is a lesson, in any struggle) then it is that there is no separation between us. We are all one. We are not truly free until each and every one of us is free.

Thought For The Day: May 22, 2018 “A Gift Worth Acknowledging

Happy Tuesday,

Just a reminder today to embrace the “tiny miracles” that occur in our lives. Sometimes we find ourselves swamped with fear, worry or drama. These things cam block our view of the good  that happens. The small things matter so if it makes you smile, gives you a feeling of peace or brings you joy it’s a gift worth acknowledging!

Spiritual Unite: When You Are Connected To Someone’s Soul

Most of our relationships are ephemeral; rarely do they last. In times like these, a soul-to-soul connection doesn’t even exist between family members. We can share our darkest and deepest secrets with another human being, but still feel emotionally detached. And yet, one day, out-of-the-blue, we meet someone.

On Monday, the quarter moon in Virgo will serve up a reality check.

Can sensuality and sensibility coexist? That’s the theme of the week as planets dance between the two realms. It begins on Monday, May 21, with the quarter moon in earthy, efficient Virgo. This lunar leveling may force us to deal with the not-so-dreamy aspects of a plan, like structure, organization, and budgets. Don’t resist the reality checks. What you discover could be heartening! Perhaps your wild hares are more doable than you realized.

Did You Know?

A beehive in summer can have as many as 50,000 to 80,000 bees. A bee must collect nectar from about 2 million flowers to make 1 pound of honey. It requires 556 worker bees to gather a pound of honey. Bees fly more than once around the world to gather a pound of honey.

EarthSky News: First Quarter Moon, Regulus on May 21

Tonight – May 21, 2018 – the half-lit first quarter moon passes 1.5o (3 moon-diameters) north of Regulus, the brightest star in the constellation Leo the Lion. Although our sky chart at the top of this post is specifically designed for mid-northern latitudes in North America, nearly everyone worldwide can use the moon to find the star Regulus tonight. Just look for the moon in the evening sky. The nearby bright star will be Regulus.

Inner Journey:  WORK WITH TENSION

“You never will be the person you can be if pressure, tension and discipline are taken out of your life.”
— James G. Bilkey

We need tension in our lives. It’s the force of personal evolution — it sparks creativity and higher consciousness. If we’re not comfortable with a situation, we try to improve it, right?

Tension arises through our experience of opposites. These opposites fight each other as each one struggles for dominance. Tension is transformed when two opposite dimensions of reality are brought together in balance and in wholeness.

Know that tension is an integral part of growth. Instead of avoiding or resisting tension when it arises, identify the opposing forces at play. Make space for each of them to be there together and the tension will transform.

We encounter tensions between positives and negatives, mind and body, self and environment, self and others, and personality and soul – the dualities in our lives.

“Life begins at the end of your comfort zone.”
— Neale Donald Walsch

A Note from the Universe

There isn’t a moment in any day, when someone, somewhere, isn’t better off because of something you’ve done.

And no matter what you do, or don’t do, with the rest of your life, you cannot now comprehend the amounts of love, joy, and personal assistance that are already being pressed out to you in gratitude.

Must be nice,

The Universe

Today’s Recipe: Honey Turnip Cough Syrup

My parents have been using this all-natural method to make their own cough syrup since I can remember. Turnips and honey have awesome natural antibiotic qualities to them. When they meld together, they make a fantastic medicine. This is just as effective as store-bought syrups for cough and congestion, yet it has no side effects. You can keep refilling the turnip with honey to make more of the medicine.

Freedom

“Freedom is not won on the battlefields. The chance for freedom is won there. The final battle is won or lost in our hearts and minds.”–Helen Gahagan Douglas (1945)

It is essential for our souls to feel free. We need freedom of expression, freedom of choice, to learn and grow. And yet, so many of our brothers and sisters all over the world live without that freedom. We are all one, and we feel their pain. Amidst the politics and controversy, what can we do? We can hold them in our hearts and in our minds, lift them up and know the Highest Truth for all of us. We can express gratitude for the freedom that we experience every day.

Thought For The Day: May 21, 2018 “It’s Okay To Ask”

Happy Monday,

What makes asking questions so difficult and why is it so hard to admit that we don’t know something? I believe it comes down to ego and the fact that no one wants to look “stupid”. Isn’t it better to ask a question than to pretend to know everything? After all  pretending to know the answers will always come back and bite you in the butt. Remember, if you ask  someone a question and they cop an attitude then chances are pretty good that they don’t know either. Be confident in admitting you don’t know something because it means that you are open to learning!
