This months moon is called the Barley Moon because it is the time to harvest and thresh the ripe grains. Other crops are also harvested at this time. For example, many of the Native American tribes’ staple foods, such as corn, pumpkins, squash, beans, and rice, were ready for harvesting during this month. The strong light of the Harvest Moon allowed European farmers to work late into the night to harvest their crops which is where the name came from. This moon does not always occur in September and traditionally, the name goes to the full moon closest to the autumn equinox, the Harvest Moon sometimes happens in September and sometimes in October.
Other names for this moon are: Chrysanthemum Moon (china), Nut Moon (Cherokee), Mulberry Moon (Choctaw), Singing Moon (Celtic), Corn Moon (Farmers Almanac) and Barley Moon (medieval English), and depending the date of the Sept Full Moon it is sometime referred to as the Harvest Moon.
The September moon will be in Pisces. Intuition, empathy and imagination are our keywords. This dreamy water sign can keep us from seeing things as they are. During this time we will be receiving messages that will help us in both short and long term. Use your intuition wisely and look at things closely so that you don’t “dream” off coarse. These are different for everyone, personally, I like watery blue-green or aquas and soft pinks, so whatever color speaks to you today just enjoy it! Personal quiet time plays an essential role in your emotional and spiritual well being. Use that quiet place to relax and reset. Too often we forget or put off doing something just for ourselves so a bubble bath for the soul is always a good thing to indulge in!

828: The Pagan theme for the month of August is the first harvest. This started on the first with the festival of Lughnasadh and it applies to today’s message as well. It’s time to harvest more of the seed thoughts we planted a few months back.If you have been tending and nurturing these “seeds” you will find that some are ready to harvest. This helps to generate new areas of personal growth that we will need as we head into Autumn.. However, some may not be quite ready and will require more time and care. Don’t worry as we will have the month of September to apply finishing touches. Today the angels are reminding us to have faith in ourselves and in the abundance of the Universe. When we gratefully acknowledge our “Tiny Miracles” and do our part the Universe steps in and helps us out. Give yourself a BIG hug for all the wonderful things that you have accomplished so far this year!
